like, thought experiment, suppose there was a huge mob of people storming the Capitol because, I don't know, they were all convinced the Super Bowl secretly happened on New Year's Day and the Packers lost, and Congress was conspiring to hide this fact from the American people. this is empirically false, and if people stormed the Capitol over that it would be both stupid and bad, but it isn't quite on the same level of bad as people storming Congress because they are fascists and proto-fascists trying to keep the fascist guy in power.

conversely, suppose someone in the actual mob was interviewed and she said something like "I'm storming the Capitol because the demographics are changing in this country." which is empirically true, the demographics are changing; however, this is obviously very very bad. same goes if they're doing it because somebody punched a cop in portland, the Democrats want to keep roe v. wade, whatever.
