if a cop can abuse the idea of physical harm, that means that no cop should do anything to prevent physical harm

Wait til you find out about the "duty of care."

https://mises.org/power-market/police-have-no-duty-protect-you-federal-court-affirms-yet-again

“Neither the Constitution, nor state law, impose a general duty upon police officers or other governmental officials to protect individual persons from harm — even when they know the harm will occur,” said Darren L. Hutchinson, a professor and associate dean at the University of Florida School of Law. “Police can watch someone attack you, refuse to intervene and not violate the Constitution.”

JUST IN: “This is not news we deliver lightly,” @margbrennan says as she reports: Trump Cabinet secretaries are discussing invoking the 25th Amendment to remove President Trump. Nothing formal yet presented to VP Pence.

“I’m talking about actual members of the Cabinet,” she says

BrianB, Thursday, 7 January 2021 01:50 (five years ago)

they were in the middle of florid speeches when this broke out and now they have to finish them, then vote. should be a formality but here we are.

Democrats calling for the 25th amendment (a few!) are trying to get out of voting by invoking magical thinking or they don’t actually want to do it so they’re calling for something they know won’t happen. Impeach him!

― Stoop Crone (Trayce)

no need for a pardon, this is fucking weird and not normal! :) normally, this is a formality. this year, several dozen republicans decided to support a coup, including the objection to the certification of the votes of 6 states, which just happen to be the battleground states that trump obviously lost. when they formally object in this manner, it triggers some sort of 2 hour "debate" for each state. that's what we're watching now
