I'm just going to put this out there: a lot of these people probably live in small towns or the suburbs or exurbs with nice lawns and clean garages. The term "hillbilly" places the problem on a despised class status and 'other' rather than deal with the issue that these people are not 'hillbillies,' stockpiling guns on rural property in Montana.

i mean, not really tho? the cops were clearly vastly outnumbered by the protestors. the only way to have prevented them from getting into the building if that's what the protestors wanted to do would have been to a. use violence b. have increased the number of cops protecting the building well into the hundreds (creepy and gross) c. erected a full impenetrable barrier around the capitol so that you can't get w/in hundreds of yards of it, which is what the white house is like right now (creepy and gross)

I'm glad they're resuming the vote at 8:00 tonight. Not to sound hokey, but at the very least it signals that if the purpose today was to delay everything for who knows how long, they failed. Are the capitol police generally effective by their own standards? I kind of thought it was a job like TSA inspector, ie a negligible amount of work with gun and a federal pension. Basically mall cops but with better benefits. Nothing like eg NYPD. Is that wrong?
