But the new season of Fargo (F/X) was this year.

clemenza, Wednesday, 30 December 2020 20:33 (five years ago)

yeah but nobody else is going to vote for Fargo S4

given pandemic watch habits, I think this was an even more important outlet, so I’d like an even broader slice of the ILX audience. Can we get 100 ballots?

the problem is that fewer people are likely to be able to remember anything they watched this year

shivers me timber (sic), Wednesday, 30 December 2020 20:33 (five years ago)

i was surprised no one nominated Fargo, but it's in there now!

the serious avant-garde universalist right now (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 31 December 2020 00:14 (five years ago)

I think Clem was the only person in the Fargo thread not saying “this is terrible but I’m still watching” at best

shivers me timber (sic), Thursday, 31 December 2020 00:39 (five years ago)

Can I nominate “Wayne” since no one on the planet watched YouTube Red or whatever so it only really counts now that it dropped on Amazon Prime late this year?

jjjusten, Thursday, 31 December 2020 05:35 (five years ago)

Seems like a million years ago, but the third season of Ozark.

clemenza, Thursday, 31 December 2020 05:59 (five years ago)

most of what I watched has already been nominated, so I'm left with these

how about Worzel Gummidge (BBC) for 2020 year of impact? only one episode this year, though.

wasdnuos (abanana), Thursday, 31 December 2020 06:15 (five years ago)

Your #1 show gets 15 points.
Your #2 show gets 15 points.
Your #3 show gets 10 points.
Your #4 show gets 10 points.
Your #5 show gets 10 points.
Your #6 show gets 5 points.
Your #7 show gets 5 points.
Your #8 show gets 5 points.
Your #9 show gets 5 point.
Your #10 show gets 5 points.
Your #11 to #20 shows get 3 points apiece.
Your #21 to #25 shows get 1 point apiece.

This is better. I'd say under this system, 18 points for a #1, then 12, 10, 8 for #s 3,4,5, then as you were. Differentiating people's top 5 placements seems important. Really what I'd favour most is 1-20 points for #s 25-6 and then going up in increments of 3 for the top 5, so 23 for 5, 26 for 4, 29 for 3, 32 for 2 and 35 for 1.

Oh and I officially un-nominate The Circle. It was 2019. I forgot because everyone's brain is screwed.

A House Through Time (BBC)

Dan Worsley, Thursday, 31 December 2020 09:43 (five years ago)

I like how inexplicable forks' point divisions are, while also acknowledging that ppl's fine rankings are pretty arbitrary.

Gummidge was way too late to make an impact on the 2019 poll, so nominating it here seems fine. I'll be watching this week's accidental one-off sometime on NYD, hopefully.

(The three eps appeared in less than 365 days, if that helps: 26 and 27 December 2019, and Christmas Eve this year.)

LJ: Thanks for the input but i have reasons for the system of differentiation I have set up there... I'd like to give people the chance to vote for 2 "#1" picks when they are drastically different. As a for instance, I'm hard pressed to choose between Bluey and I May Destroy You and how do you play that Sophie's Choice?

the serious avant-garde universalist right now (forksclovetofu), Friday, 1 January 2021 00:06 (five years ago)

Don't forget Ozark (Netflix).

clemenza, Friday, 1 January 2021 00:12 (five years ago)

Thought I added! Just did.

the serious avant-garde universalist right now (forksclovetofu), Friday, 1 January 2021 00:14 (five years ago)

late in the year released 4th season of big mouth should prob be added too

Clay, Friday, 1 January 2021 00:27 (five years ago)

cosine

shivers me timber (sic), Friday, 1 January 2021 00:46 (five years ago)

Totally forgot the second season of Homecoming (Prime). Didn't like it as much as the first, but my ballot will be brief enough that I'll have it on there.

clemenza, Friday, 1 January 2021 01:30 (five years ago)

that's 160 nominations and i still feel like we're missing several heavy hitters

the serious avant-garde universalist right now (forksclovetofu), Friday, 1 January 2021 02:10 (five years ago)

Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal (cartoon network)

Clay, Friday, 1 January 2021 03:29 (five years ago)

also joe pera's second season aired in late 2019 (and was top 10 in the 2019 poll) so might want to cut that one off the noms list?

Clay, Friday, 1 January 2021 03:37 (five years ago)

Magic for Humans (Netflix)

(Only just learned tonight that a new season was released half a year ago, yr real bad at this Netflix)

Telly Salivas (Old Lunch), Friday, 1 January 2021 03:42 (five years ago)

half of pera was in 2020 but it DID place in the 2019 poll so i am open to pulling it for that reason.

the serious avant-garde universalist right now (forksclovetofu), Friday, 1 January 2021 04:31 (five years ago)

I just finished watching Undone on Amazon and was about to nominate it, but I see that it was actually 2019 and simply didn't place last year. What a shame, it's an excellent show

Vinnie, Friday, 1 January 2021 05:31 (five years ago)

According to this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Pera_Talks_with_You#Season_2_(2019%E2%80%9320)

Nine out of 13 "Joe Pera" Season 2 episodes were in 2020, plus the "Relaxing Old Footage with Joe Pera" special also came out in 2020. I am totally voting for Joe Pera if it's on this year's poll (maybe #1 spot for me!).

ernestp, Friday, 1 January 2021 18:53 (five years ago)

i'm right there with you but every episode except Relaxing Old Footage (which is effectively a single episode special and not open to nomination) was out by the time we voted last year and it charted at #7 last year so we gotta let it go for this one

danzig, Saturday, 2 January 2021 11:40 (five years ago)

should do imo, even though at least Mangrove and Lovers Rock debuted at film festivals

shivers me timber (sic), Saturday, 2 January 2021 12:10 (five years ago)

yeah, we can do small axe, though i would appreciate it if anyone who votes for it has seen at least three “episodes” and isn’t just voting for lovers rock

BTW, Bojack did place #14 in the 2019 poll but the final eight episodes were not part of that vote, as they came out on January 31... so any votes should be for that final half of the last season as a stand-alone show.

We're wrapping this up on Thursday so get any late nominations in now!
