Yeah, Wandavision hits Jan. 15, Falcon/Winter Soldier March 19. Loki in the summer. I'm sure Disney+ will drop something else for November.
Book of Boba Fett should be December, guessing there will be some kind of crossover with Mando S3 or one of the other announced SW shows.

Nhex, Sunday, 27 December 2020 22:49 (five years ago)

one of the virtues of the mandalorian is that it showed a somewhat politically equivalent and scrappy system, including imperial remnants and went some way to humanising stormtroopers

I thought the most effective example of humanizing stormtroopers in this season was Chapter 15, where Mayfield and Mando dress up as Imperials and when they make it safely through the pirates to the Imperial base, and all the stormtroopers are cheering for them and clapping them on the back. It showed a kind of camaraderie and warmth you usually don't associate with stormtroopers.

o. nate, Monday, 28 December 2020 23:14 (five years ago)

Yeah, also it felt like a sly meta-commentary on how many stormtroopers get casually slaughtered in the movies (and this series): they're super happy and surprised to find out some of them actually survived an enemy attack.

I forgot about the Tron:Legacy youth cgi. This has been around for awhile.

Finally watched the Season 2 Gallery thing. While I don't think it warranted another full season, I did find myself still wanting more. Interesting that they didn't talk at all about the Luke scene. Spoiler tags juuuust in case.

Yeah I was noticing that as well -- wonder if they had some other character somehow standing in, or just did a reallll skeleton crew situation for that part.

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 9 January 2021 03:34 (five years ago)

Hamill said something about how well they kept it a secret (for a year?), but I don’t know the specifics.

Four Jacks and a Jill (morrisp), Saturday, 9 January 2021 04:34 (five years ago)

My wife and I were just hanging out with The Last Jedi on TV; the scene came on with those Jedi temple “caretakers” cleaning up after Rey shoots a hole in the wall. My wife (who also watched this series) was like, “Is that the same frog people? Is that the son of the frog who....”.

I thought that was pretty funny.

Four Jacks and a Jill (morrisp), Monday, 11 January 2021 07:20 (five years ago)

Forgive the thread spam, but I wanted to note that this show's 2020 season is nominated in the 2020 ILX TV poll:

ILX's Best Television of 2020 Poll / VOTING AND CAMPAIGNING THREAD / Voting Ends After January 29, 2021

If you like this show and you'd like to see it have a good showing in the poll (running in February) all you need to do is submit a ballot including it and your other favorites (3 minimum, 25 maximum, ranked by your favorite to least favorite) to forksclovetofu at gmail. It'll take five minutes; get to it!

surprised they finally pulled the trigger on this honestly

Nhex, Thursday, 11 February 2021 04:01 (five years ago)

Her post today seemed legit over the top, even by her standards. Glad they finally did something, though I'm sure this will feed her persecution complex.

Recast her with Lucy Lawless

groovypanda, Thursday, 11 February 2021 07:56 (five years ago)

I bet Ronda Rousey's agent is making some calls. "Hi, yes, I have a client who may prefer getting cast in a successful Disney franchise to getting repeatedly pummeled in the head, please give me a ring."

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 11 February 2021 14:17 (five years ago)

yeah no that's ok

Did she delete a load of tweets or am I looking at the wrong twitter I cant see anything extreme.

The article I saw said the big thing was an IG post, which was deleted.

Ah, right. I never think to look there. IG baffles me.

Stoop Crone (Trayce), Friday, 12 February 2021 00:11 (five years ago)

Ugh found it. What a tool.

Stoop Crone (Trayce), Friday, 12 February 2021 00:12 (five years ago)

Seriously. Like, you're an actor working for Disney in 2021. There is literally no reason you should mention the word "Holocaust" in anything you post.

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 12 February 2021 00:14 (five years ago)

also an astonishingly bad actor

i mean it's star wars and it doesn't take much at all but jeez

mookieproof, Friday, 12 February 2021 04:38 (five years ago)

Virtually everyone on this is “bad” but yes, she is partic disconnected

imagine being basically a circus performer who won the lottery and then losing it because you thought you had Very Important Thoughts to share. i cant imagine why anyone in that position would ever post anything other than "i love my fans! how old were U when u first saw star wars?"

nobody like my rap (One Eye Open), Friday, 12 February 2021 13:30 (five years ago)

what's that term the rad kids use, "virtue signaling"? lol

Nhex, Friday, 12 February 2021 13:52 (five years ago)

it's been years since i saw it but i remember thinking she was great in Haywire.

That's not really my scene (I'm 41) (forksclovetofu), Friday, 12 February 2021 15:21 (five years ago)

she definitely was! that's where I was first made aware of her too, and have been a fan until.. all this.

this is a phenomenon that really confuses me across the board, you see it everywhere, Hollywood, music, or just regular Trump supporters who get fired from some cushy job, basically ruined and alienated from their own families just because of this overwhelming desire to shitpost racist stuff

I don't get it either, but it seems like the brainworms run so deeply that they legitimately think they are the only people "brave" enough to tell the "real truth".

soaring skrrrtpeggios (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Friday, 12 February 2021 15:40 (five years ago)

rewatched haywire recently and it holds up imo, but in hindsight its clear thats partly bc she is called on to do very very little acting or emoting

nobody like my rap (One Eye Open), Friday, 12 February 2021 15:52 (five years ago)

the idea of people in lives of wealth and ease spending time looking at their phones all day like every other phone addict and actually thinking up stuff to post and posting it the same way my old parents do, when theyre in a position be doing 9000 other interesting fun things every day is always depressing to me

nobody like my rap (One Eye Open), Friday, 12 February 2021 16:07 (five years ago)

Not that I feel inclined to defend her in the least, but surely being stuck at home the same as the rest of us isn't at all helping people like her susceptible to these brainworms.

soaring skrrrtpeggios (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Friday, 12 February 2021 16:09 (five years ago)

I’ve got my quibbles here and there, but basically agree with this. https://t.co/oSnaVSdzQ8

Ffs she wasn't fired for "being conservative", Chris Hayes should be ashamed of himself for pushing that narrative. She was fired for a repeated pattern of inflammatory and hateful posts.

soaring skrrrtpeggios (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Friday, 12 February 2021 17:15 (five years ago)

lol knew that was going to be a Chait piece

rob, Friday, 12 February 2021 17:25 (five years ago)

Seriously. The obvious retort many have already made is, ok, which "conservative" values did she espouse?

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 12 February 2021 17:27 (five years ago)

here's a good retort:

it's a neat trick to make all conservatives believe fevered conspiratorial nonsense so that firing someone for spreading fevered conspiratorial nonsense is punishing them for their normal conservative views

i remember thinking she was great in Haywire.

Today I learned (rumor has it?) she was actually largely dubbed by Laura San Giacomo!

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 12 February 2021 20:44 (five years ago)

"How could Gina Carano be so dumb as to throw away a potential massive acting career with her crazy social media opinions?" Well, it's less dumb when you realize she's an heiress to a massive family fortune spanning dozens of companies and billions of $$$: https://t.co/9nolxyr6aV
