So, uh, took longer than most but apparently old Ken Jennings tweets were dug up? Haven’t seen the tweets in question, but I read his... apology that seems to not be great.

that's the one that's been trending lately, it looks like a lot of conservative sites are piling on him for that

obviously there are a few pretty distasteful tweets in his past but idk if they're much worse than say anything on a random episode of Curb

So glad that Brayden lost the other night. He was acting like a dick, too. Alex was reading off the Double Jeopardy categories, and one category was the setup to the next category's punchline. Brayden read the punchline before Alex did, and Alex said, "But it's not your turn to choose on Double Jeopardy, Brayden, it's Molly's turn." He sounded like he was explaining to a toddler why he couldn't have infinite cookies. It was pretty great.

i would normally be pissed about you "spoiling" a loss but i was deeply worried that brayden would be the final champion with alex and tied to him forever so that's such a fucking blessing i don't care.

Iirc the woman who beat Austin swept the very 1st category. Right after she did I figured this must be the game he loses. He also blew at least one true daily double. There was a dolly Parton category and she was from TN. RIGGED! She was really good tho!

Ken has been quite good imo.

he has the pace of the show down, which is the main thing. i have a feeling Aaron Rodgers' episode is going to have to be heavily edited to have any flow.

Yeah, Ken knows the pace of the show, but you can also tell that he LOVES the game itself; he often seems more excited than some of the contestants. And one thing Alex used to do, that Ken never does, is say something along the lines of, "[contestant far behind] has a lot of catching up to do!" Alex was never mean, but I'd think, jeez, that contestant knows they're behind, maybe don't emphasize that.

ha, that's one of the things i haven't liked about him as host. alex seemed to me like an unknowable voice of authority who existed on an entirely different plane of existence than the contestants. maybe that can't ever be replaced, but ken seems more like a guy who wants to stand on the field of play and be everyone's coach. he seems more like a typical game-show host in that sense. i liked that alex was not that.

Ken has done four days of work in the job tbf, it's entirely likely he'd get more towards his politely smart-assed stage and podcast character if he had the job full-time and was able to relax

I am wishing for a host with a deeper voice than Ken’s but he isn’t really failing in other ways. I mean he wrapped up some of his questions to the contestants sort of awkwardly but that is to be expected early on.

the one thing he was doing that annoyed me was too long pauses before giving them a "correct"
