Yeah - as someone in that Twitter thread commented, it feels like it would be weird for Obi-Wan to encounter Vader before ANH. Has that happened in the comics or anything?

Recently got through most of The Clone Wars over the last few months and ended up really enjoying those smart, tense final four episodes from the last season and how it links with events in ROTS.

I just wound up watching the various Star Wars animations over the last month or so. ON Clone Wars season 5, finished Rebels and Resistance.
I noticed there seemed to be a problem with the timeline between teh end of Rebels and Mandalorian assumed Rebels should be canon to Mandalorian. BUt something a little off. Won't say more cos may be too much spoiler.

Found Resistance quite amusing and liked the animation. So wouldn't mind more of it or more done by the team working on it.

Haven't finished Clone Wars and only realised that Season 7 was made several years after the bulk of it recently. have only watched the first 2 episodes of that so far. Assumed since there was a gap it wouldn't be too much of a spoiler to the last few seasons of the earlier stuff.

S6 and S7 of Clone Wars are definitely worthwhile - especially the last one - mostly dedicated to trying the series into the timeline of Revenge of the Sith. There are some plot threads from S6 that pay off in S7, so I don't know if would just skip it. Those last two seasons are short, anyway.

Did hope it had some merit, could have been something semi worthwhile but also could just be a toy tie in.
There have been gropups like this that have been interesting in terms of tensions etc but probably just going to be gung ho and very puerile.

There is something about the style of animation of these Star Wars series that makes them unwatchable to me. I'm not sure what it is, too much in the video-game cutscene circa mid 00s style maybe. It's just ugly to me.

The visual style of the Star Wars cartoons always reminds me of that movie Antz.

I found the animation style on The Clone Wars to be a nigh-insurmountable barrier to entry for years. I'm glad I finally pushed through my aesthetic objections because it's the best filmed SW thing since The Empire Strikes Back imo. And the animation improves considerably as the show progresses.

I see there's another character from the Clone Wars Bad Batch story arc that is now part of the team.

Same for me, OL. In fact, watching this trailer now, I'm thinking it looks great visually, whereas five years ago I probably wouldn't have thought much of it! I'll watch this

The one I saw before "Send Help" looked like one of those goofs that was going to turn into a cellphone use PSA.

Looks fun from the trailer, I trust Favreau to restore the balance from the show's third season in that respect - will see in the cinema. Nice to see EMBO in the 'flesh', plus Zeb. No Armorer would be a shame. Hope Sigourney has enough substance to her role.

It sounded like the guy who does the voice acting for a similar (if not the same) four-armed guy from a recent Star Wars video game series to me, but maybe that guy just sounds Scorsese-sque

Don't know if anyone's watching Maul but I like it -- if it feels like a minor side-story amid the larger arcs, I'm kinda fine with that, but I'm especially impressed with the animation. I do like how each individual show has its own riff on the general approach they've established all this time, and it's a very painterly style, with some impressive backgrounds in particular.

The animation is great and the story moves well.

I've never liked the fact that they brought Maul back at all. He definitively died in the movie and I don't buy whatever story they told to say he didn't. But my kids like him a lot and they are very into the new series so I'm enjoying it through them.

It's one of the biggest stretches in a franchise full of 'em but Sam Witwer did a solid job in voicing the character and does so again here. (I still think they missed a trick in 1999 by showing the double-bladed saber in the trailer -- THAT would have been a major surprise at the time.) Also, kinda loving Wagner Moura and Dennis Haysbert in this! Gideon Aldon too, really.

Yeah love everything about the new show except the underlying premise… but that would also apply to his stretches in Clone Wars and Rebels too.

Ok, the Maul show was very good and the finale was terrific.

And guess what: that's exactly what The Mandalorian and Grogu is. That was a pure pulpy delight, a proper self-contained story that didn't lean too deep on lore and used just enough backstory to work from there. I was honestly delighted, it was nice to see a Star Wars movie just being entertaining.

Yeah this was uncomplicated fun, a condensed version of the series on a bigger scale, minor quibbles aside, no real need for more than that. Embo and the Anzellans certainly did not disappoint.
