There's only a handful of posters I would consider 'super left'. I'm certainly not one of them!

ilx has a (variably) friendly lib-left split, which seems like an absurd superleft phenomenon if you're just walking in from the history-denuded redblue NYT world where bernie sanders is an "ultraliberal" but which don't worry will rapidly become just another dreary fact.

no one in the USA can figure out what is centrist, liberal, leftist or radical, partly because what political ideas are considered to fit each category varies enormously by geography, demographics, and widespread individual eccentricities. The consolidation of media control in the USA has resulted in much greater homogeneity among conservatives, but any form of ideology to the left of FOX and talk radio starts to disintegrate into a patchwork of loose coalitions around salient issues.

i have met people w all kinds of political views but rarely of the broadsheet thinkpiece variety that are so common on ilx

tbf I do mostly hang out with the leftier ppl on ILX which probably distorts my ideation of its politics

that said I've seen a lot of broadsheet thinkpieces that are miles to the right of what anyone on here would dare say or get away with. not that this means #allbroadsheetthinkpieces are media via small-c conservatism
