people ilxor loves: cops, landlords

Felt like I was losing my mind reading that

scampus fugit (gyac), Tuesday, 10 November 2020 20:57 (five years ago)

of course no one on that thread was actually proclaiming a love for landlords but hey ...

sarahell, Tuesday, 10 November 2020 20:57 (five years ago)

dogshit vs. pancreatic cancer: y'know, dogshit is not as bad as pancreatic cancer

some ilxors: omg you love dogshit!

sarahell, Tuesday, 10 November 2020 21:01 (five years ago)

Landlords and cops both resemble cancer more than dogshit

The Bosom Manor Michaelmas Special (silby), Tuesday, 10 November 2020 21:02 (five years ago)

granted a cop can kill you faster than cancer -- so like: cops < pancreatic cancer < landlords/dogshit

sarahell, Tuesday, 10 November 2020 21:03 (five years ago)

i’ll never be mature enough to understand how the real world works, so I can see how all the worst things in existence are good actually

Cattiness AFAICT

onlyfans.com/hunterb (milo z), Wednesday, 11 November 2020 17:19 (five years ago)

a discussion about ending or slightly reducing state violence should not sound this much like a discussion about how to market a new product. imo

a nice person (Left), Wednesday, 11 November 2020 22:24 (five years ago)

Does the entire fuck the police aesthetic strike you as deeply fucking irritating?

ALAB (onimo), Wednesday, 11 November 2020 23:50 (five years ago)

Political slogans have been around for at least 2400 years. They show up in ancient Roman graffiti.

the unappreciated charisma of cows (Aimless), Thursday, 12 November 2020 00:15 (five years ago)

a big problem with the future of the universe is that we can expect things to get more complex (law of entropy), while at the same time people prefer things to be simple. there is always going to be a battle between those who recognize the complex truth and those who exploit those who need things to be easy and binary.

@oneposter(✔️) (Karl Malone), Thursday, 12 November 2020 01:03 (five years ago)

Galaxy brain: simplicity is more complex than complexity itself.

delete this thread & abandon the tradition entirely

No but it look intersting

My display name was in response to (very small) bits of ilx pivoting from 'oh noes who will think of the cops' to 'oh noes who will think of the landlords'

OTCTKLAGC is what the progressive Maoists are using these days!

(acknowledging that the cops that liquidate landlords are considered comrades until further notice)

What I know of law I learned from US drama but 2 episodes into I am enjoying this dose of actual lawyerly cynicism. Thank you harbl!

(endlessly distracted by the guy with Seth Rogen Voice - he's too baked to practice law!)

ALAB (onimo), Friday, 13 November 2020 10:52 (five years ago)

haha i thought it would be too u.s.-centric maybe but it doesn't presume much knowledge. the "lawyer brain" series is great.

superdeep borehole (harbl), Friday, 13 November 2020 13:52 (five years ago)

is seth rogen voice gravelly (that's tarik aka the helldude) or squeaky (that's andy aka maximum wasp) or the other one (michael in the early episodes)

mark s, Friday, 13 November 2020 14:51 (five years ago)

Gravelly

Ep 3 on Faketoshi was so good. I'm going to burn through this whole pod in no time

ALAB (onimo), Friday, 13 November 2020 15:51 (five years ago)

v Rogenesque when he laughs

ALAB (onimo), Friday, 13 November 2020 15:51 (five years ago)

Negging on folks who probably agree with you on eight out of ten issues is a real solid way of reifying your politics, sure, right on.

Some dads are not YOUR dad (Old Lunch), Friday, 13 November 2020 20:07 (five years ago)

not getting sucked in by people who will ultimately sell you out on the other hand

big man on scampus (Noodle Vague), Friday, 13 November 2020 20:07 (five years ago)

Hearing that it’s actually good and fine for numerous posters to start fights with leftist posters and follow them from thread to thread, but as ever, only punching left is acceptable.

scampus fugit (gyac), Friday, 13 November 2020 20:09 (five years ago)

know your enemy n'est pas?

big man on scampus (Noodle Vague), Friday, 13 November 2020 20:17 (five years ago)

i honestly have no idea what is acceptable anymore ... I feel like the biggest differences on ilx are between "idealism vs. pragmatism" along with differences about expressing/handling trauma and anger.

sarahell, Friday, 13 November 2020 21:00 (five years ago)

one thing i believe I've learned over nearly twenty (20) years on ilx is that taking aggro or obnoxious people on the internet too seriously is almost always the wrong way to handle the situation, even and especially if it causes the dreaded IRL fight or flight reflex

There's a BBQ at John Gacy's house
His neighbors are all invited
With Gacy cooking all the food
Everyone will be delighted
To make the BBQ
Annual Gacy has decided
For all his friends and neighbors
With the drinks and food provided

The annual party at Gacy's house
Everyone had much fun
He invited his friends and neighbors
And Gacy cooked for everyone
The BBQ at John Gacy's house
Everyone was outside
But nobody knew of the dead boys
That Gacy stashed inside

Gacy cooks the food at a furious pace
His BBQ pits ignited
While contemplating great BBQ
Everyone's very excited
The food is served, and they take a bite
Everyone is delighted
But they'd have a fit if under the pit
They knew dead bodies resided

There's a BBQ at John Gacy's house
Come on everybody let's go check it out
There's a BBQ at John Gacy's house
With free drinks and food we'll scream and shout
There's a BBQ at John Gacy's house
Where all the dead boys are buried about
There's a BBQ at John Gacy's house
Come on everybody let's go check it out

Now I have to pee

When you walk in there you best prepare, the smell of deaths all around
He was the clown who made boys frown at Gacy's house it was stinky
He's over the pit as the flames emit the favorite all over town
The hit of the day till you go urinate everyone knows it's stinky

It's stinky, stinky because of all the dead boys
It's stinky, stinky he didn't kill girls only boys

It's stinky, stinky because of all the dead boys
It's stinky, stinky he didn't kill girls only boys
At Gacy's house it was stinky
Everyone knows it's stinky

if the primary media you have consumed in the past month are twitter and podcasts then you don't get to sneer at people for (your perception of their) reading young adult books

healthy cocaine off perfect butts (the table is the table), Sunday, 22 November 2020 03:03 (five years ago)

the latest instance of thousands of people unprovokedly ganging up on to mock what seem like a few perfectly nice people who didn't do anything morally wrong and who just seemed to be talking among themselves for wanting to know beforehand if the book they were reading was going to have a depressing ending

like, I’m eating an elephant head (katherine), Sunday, 22 November 2020 03:08 (five years ago)

and this is as someone who both reads and writes things with rather bleak endings: who gives a fuck? who is harmed by this? conversely, why is this worth hurting people over, unless you just like hurting people? which more and more it seems most people do
