frogbs, Tuesday, 10 November 2020 19:13 (five years ago)

He had a hole in one at #4 the day before as well!

oscar bravo, Tuesday, 10 November 2020 22:19 (five years ago)

boo. featured group coverage at masters for first time ever, looking fwd to ten hours of golf and play gets suspended after 5 mins and may not restart for another 4 hours.

oscar bravo, Thursday, 12 November 2020 12:40 (five years ago)

Westwood 4 under thru 8 and leading! lol just birdied the 9th as well. get em LJ!!

tiger about to go 3 under. course really soft, scores v low. prefer it when the greens are fast but with no fans some.of the camera angles and shots are new to me and great.

oscar bravo, Thursday, 12 November 2020 17:48 (five years ago)

Oh Lee. You tease

imago, Thursday, 12 November 2020 17:55 (five years ago)

Very shocking to update the golf leaderboard and see those scores. Imagine if he has a consistent tournament!

Rickie tee update: 7:26 GMT

tangenttangent, Thursday, 12 November 2020 17:59 (five years ago)

Everyone did a nice job today. A v low-scoring round. I've got to wonder how the silence could be positively impacting the psychological game. Casey sounding sort of rapturous when he was describing the atmosphere to one interviewer. Rickie on -3.

tangenttangent, Thursday, 12 November 2020 22:42 (five years ago)

yah. excellent day's play. rickie has been terrible all year so nice to see him turn it around. if anywhere could revitalise a player I thought it would be Augusta and spieth but not so far, jordy now #80 in the world!

matthew wolff played a couple of exquisite chip shots and his major record so far is played 2 finished 4th and 2nd.

as always rooting for hideki who has really upped his fashion game in 2020 with his shoes/shirt combos.

oscar bravo, Thursday, 12 November 2020 23:09 (five years ago)

hoping hideki does it this time. or finau. couple guys who havent broken through yet.

Spottie, Thursday, 12 November 2020 23:24 (five years ago)

larry mize! -2!

greatest swing of all time

Spottie, Thursday, 12 November 2020 23:49 (five years ago)

oh man, larry mize! haven’t thought about him in ages. that’s awesome.

call all destroyer, Thursday, 12 November 2020 23:51 (five years ago)

pulling for westwood, but i kinda expect brysonbot to have a dominant day tomorrow

la table sur la table (voodoo chili), Friday, 13 November 2020 02:01 (five years ago)

langer 4 under thru 13 holes! love when the old boys show up the youngsters round this course

Rory almost broke shot tracer such was the severity of his duck hook off 13

sungjae im owner of the slowest takeaway since inbee park currently at 5 under

oscar bravo, Friday, 13 November 2020 13:26 (five years ago)

as always rooting for hideki who has really upped his fashion game in 2020 with his shoes/shirt combos.

Strong agree

tangenttangent, Friday, 13 November 2020 23:38 (five years ago)

bryson finishes bogey-bogey to possibly miss the cut.
rahm joins the logjam at -9.

oscar bravo, Saturday, 14 November 2020 14:00 (five years ago)

Near flawless golf from DJ today. Shot making, decision making, putting. Everything totally on point.
Cam Smith with back to back insane up and downs on 16 and 17, the one on 17 wasn' t even from the correct fairway.

tiger with a 10(ten) at the 12th.

oscar bravo, Sunday, 15 November 2020 16:53 (five years ago)

dj's driving a little off today. hope he can 2 putt #8 for a birdie and right the ship.

oscar bravo, Sunday, 15 November 2020 16:55 (five years ago)

lol at bryson dechambeau

||||||||, Sunday, 15 November 2020 17:09 (five years ago)

rough weekend for the big golf boy.

call all destroyer, Sunday, 15 November 2020 17:56 (five years ago)

Im's languorous approach with a 6-iron is mad! Such a fragmented swing. Very exciting though - really hope he can make it happen!

tangenttangent, Sunday, 15 November 2020 18:40 (five years ago)

tiger followed his ten by birdieing 5 of his last 6 holes because of course he did. never really rooted for him but by god he tries on every single shot whatever his score is.

oscar bravo, Sunday, 15 November 2020 18:48 (five years ago)

Yes, that was an impressive turnaround. This was also the most psychologically solid I’ve seen McIlroy in ages - normally seems like he is seething internally.

Insane showing from Cameron Smith - all four rounds under par! DJ is a machine. Very happy for young Im.

tangenttangent, Sunday, 15 November 2020 19:43 (five years ago)

*under 70...

tangenttangent, Sunday, 15 November 2020 20:03 (five years ago)

cam smith made birdies and pars from some insane places, love to see it.

Im's chip at 15 was incredible.

happy for DJ he was great this week and for the last 3 months tbh.

oscar bravo, Sunday, 15 November 2020 20:08 (five years ago)

smith probably gave the best non-winning performance in augusta history

la table sur la table (voodoo chili), Sunday, 15 November 2020 20:11 (five years ago)

Did I read that no one has ever posted four rounds in the 60s before at Augusta?

Michael Jones, Sunday, 15 November 2020 21:57 (five years ago)

Yeah that's right Michael.

Insane to think that when tiger posted -18 in '97 the next best score was -6!

Love sungjae Im. Remember his first year on tour when joel dahmen's caddie tweeted after they played with sungjae that in his 14 years caddieing on the tour Im was the best rookie he had ever seen bar none.

oscar bravo, Sunday, 15 November 2020 22:26 (five years ago)

And Tiger went out in 40 on the Thursday in '97... -22 for the last 63 holes! I remember thinking Montgomerie was going to reel him in after round 2. Hilariously wrong. Strange that Tom Kite was runner-up. Another era. That would be like Federer overlapping with Connors or something.

Michael Jones, Sunday, 15 November 2020 22:41 (five years ago)

ha ha yes. was watching '97 masters the other day and was taken aback to see that it was faldo putting the jacket on tiger and then remembering that faldo's comeback vs Norman was only the previous year so it wasn't as if tiger came on the scene when faldo was years and years past his prime, he came on the scene when faldo was still good enough to win majors! but as you say it seems like another era altogether.

oscar bravo, Sunday, 15 November 2020 22:50 (five years ago)

three months pass...

SPIETH!!

oscar bravo, Saturday, 6 March 2021 18:29 (five years ago)

four weeks pass...

I was four weeks early but SPIETH!!!!!!!! for real this time.

Really hope Patty Tavatanakit holds on to win the major tonight as she played a wonderful round 3 of p breathtaking golf. Averaging 316 off the tee, and straight, p amazing. Shout out to Shanshan Feng in contention after not playing a tournament for 16 months and actually during that span not touching a club at all for over a year. Also loved her answer when asked about what she did do during quarantine in China - "Well got up in the morning and thought about what I was going to have for breakfast, and after breakfast what I was going to have for lunch, and after lunch thought about what I was going to have for dinner. That was it really."

oscar bravo, Sunday, 4 April 2021 22:18 (five years ago)

If you're someone who consciously marks the passage of time, this won't be surprising. I must have shut that off when it comes to golf, though, because the inclusion of Sergio Garcia in the "old guys" category here (#7) is very disorienting.

https://www.cbssports.com/golf/news/masters-2021-justin-thomas-rise-jordan-spieths-resurgence-lead-10-storylines-to-follow-at-augusta-national/

I still remember that major (PGA?) where he was 20 or something and almost overtook Tiger with that amazing shot from the woods.

clemenza, Monday, 5 April 2021 13:11 (five years ago)

stoked for the masters

think will win - patrick cantlay or justin thomas
hope will win - hideki or westwood or sungjae im
would hate to win - brooks

oscar bravo, Wednesday, 7 April 2021 16:04 (five years ago)

kim and matsuyama good early returns :)

i was too much listening to your accent (Spottie), Thursday, 8 April 2021 17:06 (five years ago)

Kim just snapped his putter in frustration, and is well in contention

Playing out the round using his 3 wood

your own personal qanon (darraghmac), Friday, 9 April 2021 20:54 (five years ago)

his stroke with the 3 wood was so smooth on 16.

will zalatoris is legit. a top 25 machine considering he's still kinda a korn ferry tour player but results on the main tour have pushed him into the top 50 in the world in the meantime. his putting can be a bit iffy tho.

hope the greens on Saturday are more like
day one speed.

Rory just put a swing on it on #10 approach shot that looked like a 18 handicapper.

also SPIETH!!!!

oscar bravo, Friday, 9 April 2021 21:15 (five years ago)

Lots of bad reads on greens

pulling hard for hideki, fascinating player

voodoo chili, Sunday, 11 April 2021 00:05 (five years ago)

“I sat in my car looking at my cell phone.”

- Hideki Matsuyama on how he spent his 77-minute weather delay.

— Rick Gehman (@RickRunGood) April 10, 2021

voodoo chili, Sunday, 11 April 2021 00:06 (five years ago)

hideki post rain delay was sublime. only downside is how nervous i'll be watching him tonight.

i love how despite having a press pack from japan following him around from tournament to tournament for the last ten years they only found out he was married with a kid about 3 years after his actual wedding.

oscar bravo, Sunday, 11 April 2021 10:24 (five years ago)

Fingers crossed for Hideki this evening. Seems bizarre that, 40 years after Aoki's near-miss, Japan still hasn't produced a male major winner. But then I've never quite understood why the French don't dominate clay-court tennis (probably based on watching exchange students rallying for hours in the local park when I was a kid... like, can they all do that?), instead of just one Roland Garros men's singles champ since WW2.

Michael Jones, Sunday, 11 April 2021 15:39 (five years ago)

Well that was tighter than it needed to be but he got it done!

Xander really wet the bed on 16 he mighta been able to win it with a par and pressure

i was too much listening to your accent (Spottie), Monday, 12 April 2021 00:27 (five years ago)

fun final day even if hideki was never in real peril

call all destroyer, Monday, 12 April 2021 00:28 (five years ago)

xander also went +4 over three holes before recovering for six straight birdies

weird day for him, but hideki deserves the win and i’m happy he pulled it out

voodoo chili, Monday, 12 April 2021 01:46 (five years ago)

one month passes...

this course is brutal. looks like every tee shot is blind.

i was too much listening to your accent (Spottie), Friday, 21 May 2021 20:54 (five years ago)

also... phil!?

i was too much listening to your accent (Spottie), Friday, 21 May 2021 20:54 (five years ago)

Not up on golf these days, but I'll watch today. It'd be a miracle if Mickelson pulls this off, no?

clemenza, Sunday, 23 May 2021 18:36 (five years ago)

I barely recognize him now that he looks so….in shape

Definitely pulling for him, would be the oldest player to win a major right?
