guys. folks. ppl. y'all.

Briscoe Cain, the miniature Texan lawyer who prayed the gay away, posted photos of himself and a companion hard at work investigating election fraud in Philly on Saturday (by, er, sitting in a room and looking at the internet). He carefully TRIGGERED liberals by insisting they had lunch from homophobic chick chain Chick-Fil-A, and positioning their packaging in both pictures.

His pic also includes a post-it-note with a street address written on it, which when searched turns out to be that of Four Seasons Total Landscaping.

Happy that @MikaelGarciaTX, exec director of the @TxFreedomCaucus is with me in PA. Of course we had @ChickfilA for lunch. And yes voter fraud, ballot harvesting, intimidation, and electioneering is real. pic.twitter.com/xawm4sxUI3

— 𝐁𝐫𝐒𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐞 π‚πšπ’π§ (@BriscoeCain) November 8, 2020

It's almost certainly just because they looked it up after the announcement and then didn't bother to go, because they were scared of actually encountering Philadelphians, but let's savour the possibility that Briscoe was actually involved in booking the landscaping company for Giuliani's command performance.

lukas, Monday, 9 November 2020 22:07 (five years ago)

Loeffler and Perdue have no intention of leaning center, they need to poke the hogs with cattle prods to keep them fired up

they've got to dance with the ones who brought them

I think they should call for Governor Kemp to resign next ... what this run-off needs is much more Republican infighting

Brad C., Monday, 9 November 2020 22:07 (five years ago)

"During the 2020 election, Raffensperger sought to prevent Georgia polling places from having printing paper backups of voter registration and absentee voting information in case polling places would struggle to use voter check-in tablets, called Poll Pads, which had been problematic in Georgia's primary elections earlier that year. The tablets had caused long lines at polling places. Voting rights groups had requested paper backups to prevent a risk of chaos on election day in case the tablets failed."

no one is trumpy enough for the trumpists

longtime caller, first time listener (man alive), Monday, 9 November 2020 22:09 (five years ago)

Is the next vote in Georgia going to be all in-person or will there be a mail-in option?

a certain derecho (brownie), Monday, 9 November 2020 22:13 (five years ago)

Give your money to people who are suffering.

Got it covered. I checked our donations for 2020 and our contributions to the local food bank are running 10:1 over our contributions to candidates so far this year. That gap is bound to grow considerably now that the election's over.

Good. I hope everyone else follows your lead.

healthy cocaine off perfect butts (the table is the table), Monday, 9 November 2020 22:15 (five years ago)

Every year has too much suffering. 2020 is just surpassingly bad.

the unappreciated charisma of cows (Aimless), Monday, 9 November 2020 22:18 (five years ago)

Brownie, if they don't accept absentee ballots then they won't get troops or olds or sick people. That might be a bit of a self-own.

Anyway

Fun fact

🚨🚨🚨@realDonaldTrump’s pick for Acting SECDEF is prohibited from serving because he only retired from the military six years ago. https://t.co/6OT8JalLBg

I've been donating money to charities for food banks for years, and will continue to. We need to make sure we win those seats.

Everything's Blue In This Whorl (Raymond Cummings), Monday, 9 November 2020 22:21 (five years ago)

How does one give to Abrams' GOTV organization? cuz I'd be happy to throw a few bucks her direction. It is way more important to winning those run-offs than subsidizing a lot of paid media from the candidates.

the unappreciated charisma of cows (Aimless), Monday, 9 November 2020 22:25 (five years ago)

My boss (pretty left wing dude overall) worries that if we take the Senate, Dems will overplay their hand and then get whipped in the midterms.

Andy the Grasshopper, Monday, 9 November 2020 22:27 (five years ago)

always fucking terrified of something whereas the rs apparently have no fear. why?

Give me a Chad Smith-type feel (map), Monday, 9 November 2020 22:29 (five years ago)

xp I expect there to be absentee and early voting for the January run-off

in some parts of Georgia there will also be December run-offs for local and state races ... I'm worried about voter fatigue

as a rule I donate $0 to political campaigns, but this time I'm breaking my rule ... it's not going to cut into my contributions to the food bank and other local charities

Abrams' Fair Fight GOTV operation is taking donations at the link I posted above, https://secure.actblue.com/donate/georgiasenate

this is such a dumb fear -- if we ever get power we might lose it later! Better never get it.

longtime caller, first time listener (man alive), Monday, 9 November 2020 22:30 (five years ago)

probably will get whipped either way so you gotta take it when you can

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Monday, 9 November 2020 22:31 (five years ago)

Re donations: is there any good organization/PAC to donate to other than just the campaign, where the money might get put to better use than just, like, going into the pockets of consultants and for media buys? Maybe that's all there is, but I thought there might be some good grassroots org that does turnout work along with other things.

longtime caller, first time listener (man alive), Monday, 9 November 2020 22:31 (five years ago)

I have a lot more confidence in Abrams' group spending money wisely than I do in the campaigns, the state party, the national party, or national-level PACs

Brad C., Monday, 9 November 2020 22:37 (five years ago)

yeah that's exactly what I'm talking about

I wish people like the Fox newscasters would quit saying "show your evidence". they know there isn't any. just say they're lying.

asking them to show their evidence opens the door for them to offer really flimsy anecdotal 'evidence' that doesn't prove anything and implies that it's on the same level as actual evidence

not that I've heard, but I will be so happy to see DeJoy out on his ass. the question is whether the things he's done to the USPS can be repaired

I disagree, actually, this allows them to maintain the appearance (and indeed the reality!) of fairness. Christie's statement is the same. Not "shut up and stop wasting my time" but "unless you've got something real to say, shut up and stop wasting my time," which is also a retort to the weak shit that is all Guiliani & Co. will ever be able to muster.

about that...

About those #USPS delivery delays, something to keep in mind:

A future President Biden cannot fire Postmaster General Louis DeJoy.

DeJoy serves at the pleasure of the Postal Service Board of Governors, all of whom are Trump appointees.

Much harder at 52-48

So what does happen when some local yokel (and whatever level of government ) just refuses to acknowledge Biden?

The only people outside the federal bureaucracy who have to acknowledge Biden are soldiers, no?

Governors and Mayors don't have to accord him anything in particular.

first First Son with a wikifeet entry (milo z), Monday, 9 November 2020 23:42 (five years ago)

I swear I saw this weekend that there was actually going to be a coronavirus task force briefing today (a WH/Pence one, not Biden's team) for the first time in ages. What happened to that? Now I see Pence is going on vacation.

akm, Monday, 9 November 2020 23:44 (five years ago)

courts aren't going to invalidate 400,000 voters votes after the fact even if there is a semi-compelling concern on methodology. they're going to ask 'where was this lawsuit before Election Day' just like the Texas judge.

it's kind of funny though because it glosses over signature verification which does happen on mailed votes.

"yawn" indeed

Lover of Nixon (or LON for short) (Neanderthal), Monday, 9 November 2020 23:44 (five years ago)

"Being down 51-49 could still work if you get a Collins or a Murk to flip"

50-50 works too no? VP as tie breaker.

akm, Monday, 9 November 2020 23:45 (five years ago)

Even assuming anything else they said was true, it's not like they offered two different tracks to different classes of people -- anyone could have voted by mail or in person.

longtime caller, first time listener (man alive), Monday, 9 November 2020 23:45 (five years ago)

If that's the best they got, not much to worry about. By that logic, any differences among polling sites would also be an equal protection violation.

Also, who even has standing to challenge that? Who was harmed? It's not like anyone unfairly *lost* the right to vote as a result of this -- the claim is that the bar for some people was too low.

longtime caller, first time listener (man alive), Monday, 9 November 2020 23:47 (five years ago)

Best Senate hopes are either both Georgia seats, or one Georgia and Tillis in NC (which is not quite called, as NC is still counting)
