There are just so many infuriating things that it's impossible to keep track and respond to each one (which is of course deliberate). Anyway

1. I have literally seen "if your ballot didn't arrive on time, that's on you" from precisely the same people who deliberately worked to hamstring the USPS

2. A federal court actually ordered USPS to deliver all the ballots it had ASAP. Trump/DeJoy's USPS refused.

4. GOP observers weren't excluded - in the most cited case, there were already GOP observers and the Trump campaign lawyer was forced to admit as such grr.

5. Wow, some people in Nevada voted in Nevada despite not living there - duh, that's completely normal for people who have moved recently or - significantly for Nevada with its large military population - vote absentee while stationed elsewhere grr

And all of it of course undergirded by

6. There is a fucking pandemic that Democrats have taken seriously (comparatively) and Republicans have not (relatively speaking), so there should be comparatively little surprise at the divergence in modes of voting

7. Had said pandemic been adequately managed to begin with maybe items 1 through 6 might not have been such salient factors but grrrgehlkjasdglj

and of course

8. Tumpies can't believe in the result because eNthuisAsM and because rAlLieS but hey see above and gah, just why even bother at this point grzl

mouts and shurmurs (Ye Mad Puffin), Monday, 9 November 2020 03:56 (five years ago)

This is why the best response to Trump or any of his proxies at this point and forevermore is 'shut the fucking fuck up, you fucking fuck'. No response at all is also acceptable and encouraged.

LET HIM BARK HIS DAMN HEAD OFF, IT MEANS NOTHING

OrificeMax (Old Lunch), Monday, 9 November 2020 04:16 (five years ago)

I mean he did all this underhanded shit and continues to try all this underhanded shit and none of it mattered ultimately because HE LOST. Scream it in his dumb, shit-ass face. YOU LOST, SHIT-ASS.

The only way any of this will matter at all is if people inexplicably grant him legitimacy at this point. Which is pointless. He's a scarecrow flopping in the breeze. Fuck that dumb sack of hay and birdshit.

OrificeMax (Old Lunch), Monday, 9 November 2020 04:19 (five years ago)

GOD, I'm so fucking done with him living rent-free in everyone's mind (mine included). If I could isolate the Trump Trauma center of my brain I'd have that shit scooped out and dumped down the disposal.

OrificeMax (Old Lunch), Monday, 9 November 2020 04:21 (five years ago)

Will be interesting to see how the lamestream media engages with him once they don't have to do the bullshit "respect the office" stuff. If he thought Leslie Stahl was tough, how will he react to an interviewer treating him as an average (lying, despicable) citizen.

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Monday, 9 November 2020 04:22 (five years ago)

NO ONE SHOULD INTERVIEW HIM EVER AGAIN

I'm sorry for the vehemence but short of him blessedly dropping dead, the best outcome rn is for everyone to just start pretending that he doesn't even fucking exist ASAP and for the rest of forever.

OrificeMax (Old Lunch), Monday, 9 November 2020 04:29 (five years ago)

thank you

Four Seasons Total Manscaping (forksclovetofu), Monday, 9 November 2020 04:33 (five years ago)

That would be great. Tho I do yearn for a vicious gloves-off interview.

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Monday, 9 November 2020 04:33 (five years ago)

Prosecutors should be encouraged to interview him

Fetchboy, Monday, 9 November 2020 04:34 (five years ago)

None of his bullshit is going to go anywhere, but I hate the narrative it fuels among already crazy people on the right. It's fucking dangerous.

Trump got 89% of registered Republicans in KY, McConnell got 82.7%.
Biden got 44.74% of registered Dems, McGrath got 47.29%
Anyone have an explanation??

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Monday, 9 November 2020 04:43 (five years ago)

it is so fucking wild that a man can become President of the United States and literally not change in any way or learn a single thing

frogbs, Monday, 9 November 2020 04:44 (five years ago)

Frogbs, yes that is wild but we don't elect people, we elect brands.

The man can change while the brand doesn't, and vice versa

mouts and shurmurs (Ye Mad Puffin), Monday, 9 November 2020 04:48 (five years ago)

Right-wingers on Facebook won't shut up about Benford's Law. On the plus side, they've stopped misinterpreting COVID statistics for a few days.

a man often referred to in the news media as the Duke of Saxony (tipsy mothra), Monday, 9 November 2020 04:52 (five years ago)

You mean this one? (Quoting wikipedia):

Benford's law of controversy is an adage from the 1980 novel Timescape, stating: Passion is inversely proportional to the amount of real information available.

President Trump plans to brandish obituaries of people who supposedly voted but are dead...

Worked for Joe McCarthy (for a while, anyway).

Anyone have an explanation??

Once they don't have to engage with him anymore, the gloves will come off and they'll treat him like they treat George Bush

The last people excited about Amy McGrath were the Iraqi people she was performing air strikes on.

v confusing why the pro-trump Dem candidate didn't siphon votes from Mitch McConnell, yes

@oneposter (👍) (sic), Monday, 9 November 2020 06:59 (five years ago)

Remember Naomi Wolf from the Clinton years? She seems to have gone full kook.

If I’d known Biden was open to ‘lockdowns’ as he now states, which is something historically unprecedented in any pandemic, and a terrifying practice, one that won’t ever end because elites love it, I would never have voted for him.

— Dr Naomi Wolf (@naomirwolf) November 9, 2020

Donald Trump Also Sucks, Of Course (milo z), Monday, 9 November 2020 07:50 (five years ago)

This is not a new development

Alba, Monday, 9 November 2020 07:52 (five years ago)

She’s been a bit of a nut job for a while and pretty aggressive at going after anyone who challenges her historical research.

Right on cue, I suppose. Dr Wolf today again accuses me of whitewashing gay history. In a tweet in this thread she also accuses me of homophobia. That's a new one. This would be a surreal amusement if the accusations weren't quite so serious. https://t.co/D23mwmZgD5

Dan Worsley, Monday, 9 November 2020 08:51 (five years ago)

When was she not a kook?

She also has bizarre and long running beef with the Australian energy minister over what he said she said about a Christmas tree in Oxford 30 years ago. Angus Taylor is an irredeemable liberal prick so she might be right on this one but she went bizarrely deep on this one.

The Lincoln Project convinced Democratic donors to part with $39,384,397 in Q3. It burned a staggering $13 million on operating expenditures, made $23.9M of IEs (mostly routed into its founders firms), and ended with $13.2M on hand. https://t.co/wvOXUYp7ed

Donald Trump Also Sucks, Of Course (milo z), Monday, 9 November 2020 09:04 (five years ago)

thanks for the reminder re Wolf vs Minister For Destroying The Environment Taylor. this is amazing, Angus is 1000% in the wrong but she still manages to ju-jitsu it against herself and come off demented. instead of doing some historical research (say, back three or four months) and showing that Taylor has form on falsifying public attacks against feminist women, she decides it was an anti-semitic dogwhistle and defuses her entire standing:

i keep veering between 'uninspiring plagiarist loser joe biden somehow managed to defeat a famous reality show star in the face of media acquiescence and unprecedented disinfo campaigns, holy shit' and 'worst president ever who allowed a global pandemic to rage unchecked through every constituency was only defeated by democrats threading the needle perfectly in a handful of swing states'

Pfizer finds a vaccine the weekend after the election is it

stet, Monday, 9 November 2020 12:05 (five years ago)

Do Electoral college votes automatically follow the consensus of whatever state electors they're grouped with. I assume they do but could see benefits of them following their own lead.
Not as many as getting rid of the archaic institution.

Stevolende, Monday, 9 November 2020 12:16 (five years ago)

I wrote a thing about this past weekend. There'd been no plans to do so until the Sunday moment arrives and something crystallized for me.

guys both these georgia senate races look winnable

Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Monday, 9 November 2020 13:34 (five years ago)

And that’s what makes this a fun read

Republicans told Axios they worry that Trump's election fight will divert money from the real remaining prize for the GOP — the Georgia runoffs that'll determine Senate control.

One top Republican said, "It is a distraction. And a gigantic waste of time." https://t.co/gEIcaKNNoU

is there any point in conning him into a Texas recount.
Were there more votes taht weren't counted when that was called.
I mean couldn't he get to gloat a bit more if he was convinced he could show off a better win or something.
or would he get it

Stevolende, Monday, 9 November 2020 13:37 (five years ago)

One obvious thing in counteracting all this nonsense is Ohio, which provides a perfect inverse parallel to the way that Pennsylvania and other states unfolded. Ohio counted mail-in first, and Biden was way ahead election night.

Maybe Asshole could spin it into a new reality show, traveling the world searching for lost votes.
