Amazing

Can’t even begin to outline the unhinged QAnon explanation for the Four Seasons mishap.

Something about money laundering and Democrats and murder at the crematorium next door?

It’s incomprehensible. They need Q, their leader, who’s been absent since Election Day.

(Dilbro?)

Yep! It’s still true. She seems to have interests that aren’t shouting at the internet, good for her.

Open the secret files!

DECLASSIFY EVERYTHING!!!

We can’t let the bad actors get away with it.

You owe a lot of money to some very bad people.

pomenitul, Sunday, 8 November 2020 22:17 (five years ago)

Yeah it's just weirdness on weirdness.

I recently took a break from the frankly hilarious landscaping weirdness to briefly turn back to the darkly hilarious "watermark" weirdness.

Beware. This shit is a rabbit hole.

Okay so how likely is it that Donny Trouserdump gets 25th-ed before January rolls around? Even his enablers are gonna get fed up with this shit eventually.

OrificeMax (Old Lunch), Sunday, 8 November 2020 23:21 (five years ago)

wins you crazy for this one

@oneposter (✔️) (sic), Sunday, 8 November 2020 23:26 (five years ago)

xp i think it's more likely he just doesn't come back from florida at xmas, and no one bothers to follow up.

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Sunday, 8 November 2020 23:31 (five years ago)

I'm already seeing right-leaning rumblings about the Senate runoffs that indicate, how you say, unease with what he would or wouldn't do -- which kinda makes a lot of the weird reactions of the leadership types in Congress (and Mitch's own notable near silence) make, well, not make SENSE but be vaguely understandable in a "WTF are we going to do exactly?" way.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 8 November 2020 23:35 (five years ago)

The only way he leaves office prematurely is if a pardon scheme is feasible. Otherwise he'll probably keep a low profile outside of daily reminders that the election was stolen and a legal challenge is coming at any moment.

Mr. Cacciatore (Moodles), Sunday, 8 November 2020 23:35 (five years ago)

Which given that COVID cases are really starting to ramp up (horribly) is...not good.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 8 November 2020 23:36 (five years ago)

The obvious problem with jumping through embarrassing hoops for a pardon is that he hasn't been charged with anything, so why would he need a pardon?

Mr. Cacciatore (Moodles), Sunday, 8 November 2020 23:37 (five years ago)

I could see him signing off on a covid deal as a last ditch effort to save face, but I could also see that not happening at all.

Mr. Cacciatore (Moodles), Sunday, 8 November 2020 23:38 (five years ago)

I submit that Trump saying/doing nothing abt COVID will actually be an improvement over the previous aggressive denials

howls of non-specificity (sleeve), Sunday, 8 November 2020 23:39 (five years ago)

He certainly has a huge reason to stop holding massive super spreader events.

Mr. Cacciatore (Moodles), Sunday, 8 November 2020 23:40 (five years ago)

We should all be thankful for the millions of lives he saved by halting campaign events after losing 5he election and infecting the entire Midwest. Thank you, sir! :'''(

Mr. Cacciatore (Moodles), Sunday, 8 November 2020 23:42 (five years ago)

I am half honestly surprised he hasn't just kept up the rallies but I'm honestly kinda happy given how last week played out. And I hope that stays the case for this week too at least (basically, at least get past some final vote counts for states to achieve in accordance with individual state law, Nevada has to be done by Thursday for instance).

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 8 November 2020 23:43 (five years ago)

Holding rallies right now would look suuuuper bad and pathetic.

Mr. Cacciatore (Moodles), Sunday, 8 November 2020 23:47 (five years ago)

Yeah but does he even know that. (Maybe he does.)

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 8 November 2020 23:47 (five years ago)

I wouldn't put it past him to do something that stupid, but I think the reaction would be extremely negative.

Mr. Cacciatore (Moodles), Sunday, 8 November 2020 23:50 (five years ago)

mouts and shurmurs (Ye Mad Puffin), Monday, 9 November 2020 00:04 (five years ago)

He certainly has a huge reason to stop holding massive super spreader events.

Maybe but now is when he wants and needs them more than ever. So look for a series of "Stop the Steal" rallies as a show of strength from now till January

mouts and shurmurs (Ye Mad Puffin), Monday, 9 November 2020 00:05 (five years ago)

There's probably not much scratch left in the campaign fund, and nobody in their right mind would rent him a venue without getting paid upfront.

henry s, Monday, 9 November 2020 00:08 (five years ago)

pish, there are an awful lot of landscaping companies out there.

mouts and shurmurs (Ye Mad Puffin), Monday, 9 November 2020 00:09 (five years ago)

There's probably not much scratch left in the campaign fund, and nobody in their right mind would rent him a venue without getting paid upfront.

This is definitely part of it, yeah.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 9 November 2020 00:14 (five years ago)

100% the reason he hasn’t conceded yet is because he can continue fleecing his followers for cash if he acts like he is putting up a fight. Kind of like how Dems donated huge sums of money to the Biden campaign to be part of the “resistance”... the new “resistance“ is delusional Trump supporters who are ready to give him their life savings if it means there is a prayer that he can somehow win... of course that can’t happen, but that won’t stop him from grabbing all the money he can on his way out.

epistantophus, Monday, 9 November 2020 00:17 (five years ago)

The fundraiser for his "fight the steal" efforts has small print noting that half the money will go to paying off campaign debts.

@oneposter (✔️) (sic), Monday, 9 November 2020 00:18 (five years ago)

It creates a symbiosis -- if one is supposed to be suing, one must sue, however flimsily; as cases get dismissed, new ones have to emerge. Problem is when time runs out (per counts, state laws, etc.). There was a comment that the Wisconsin recount they wanted to do costs $3 million and they haven't put up any money for it, so -- performative, at best.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 9 November 2020 00:19 (five years ago)

I do wonder what Lindsey Graham has to gain from giving Trump $500k for his legal costs. What is Lindsey buying with that money?

epistantophus, Monday, 9 November 2020 00:20 (five years ago)

^^

I know this sounds like a joke speculation but actually it's worse than I remembered:

https://secure.winred.com/tmagac/election-defense-fund

Contributions to TMAGAC made by an Individual/Federal Multicandidate Political Committee will be allocated according to the following formula:

60% to DJTP for deposit in DJTP’s 2020 General Election Account for the retirement of general election debt (up to a maximum of $2,800/$5,000) or, if such debt has been retired or any portion of the contribution would exceed the limit to the 2020 General Election Account, for deposit in DJTP’s Recount Account (up to a maximum of $2,800/$5,000); 40% to the RNC’s Operating account (up to a maximum of $35,500/$15,000); and any additional funds to the RNC for deposit in the RNC’s Legal Proceedings account or Headquarters account (up to a maximum of $213,000/$90,000).

@oneposter (✔️) (sic), Monday, 9 November 2020 00:21 (five years ago)

I have to imagine any donations that are coming in to Trump now are steeply lower post-election

Mr. Cacciatore (Moodles), Monday, 9 November 2020 00:22 (five years ago)

So the future will be some kind of Jim Bakker scenario where he is perpetually selling his followers on the idea that there will be a BIG day that never quite arrives, but they will keep paying anyway. Any day now.

Evan, Monday, 9 November 2020 00:23 (five years ago)

Among the millions of examples of media bias, I’m struck right now by how coverage post-2016 focused relentlessly for years on Clinton supporters and their emotional trauma and Resistance efforts ... compared to second-class and disdainful treatment of 71 MILLION Trump voters.

Evan, Monday, 9 November 2020 00:30 (five years ago)

In theory, I have no problem with Trump fleecing his followers straight into the poorhouse. If there was only a surefire means of interception such that he could never get his hands on the money and wound up in the poorhouse right alongside them.

OrificeMax (Old Lunch), Monday, 9 November 2020 00:30 (five years ago)

The non-insane media should call a unilateral end to "Trump says he's going to do X" stories, and agree to only run "Trump does X" stories, because he's never gonna do a fucking one of the ten thousand things he says he's gonna do between now and January 20.

but also fuck you (unperson), Monday, 9 November 2020 00:31 (five years ago)

So the future will be some kind of Jim Bakker scenario where he is perpetually selling his followers on the idea that there will be a BIG day that never quite arrives, but they will keep paying anyway. Any day now.

Well, just like the whole Q thing, more aptly. Apparently there are any number of dead-enders assuming that between now and January 20 it'll all be addressed, Trump get the nod, etc. etc. Basically watching that start to drip away from them will be amusing.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 9 November 2020 00:32 (five years ago)

Guess I spoke too soon

Scoop: President Trump plans to brandish obituaries of people who supposedly voted but are dead — plus hold campaign-style rallies — in an effort to prolong his fight against apparent insurmountable election results, four Trump advisers tell me https://t.co/HGfpZjSVXA
