The biggest problem with the shitposting is that it seems to proceed from a super condescending assumption that everybody else is somehow unaware of the glaring shortcomings of the incoming administration and/or the many systemic problems with the entire structure of our economy and society. Stevolende, this is a massive problem and not just in the US. I was just considering this whilst looking at Texas statehouse races. Uncontested races are everywhere. Not only does it hurt races up and down ballot but if a race is not contested then it can never be competitive, issues are never raised, no one ever gets to choose something different. I think it’s important that every race is contested by someone, and in more plural democracies by as many people as possible.

This goes as much for primaries as generals, competitive primaries mean you May get an AOC. Offering an alternative in deep red, rural Texas means somebody gets to choose something different.
