having joe biden be president isn't great, but it's just not as frightening, fucked up and surreal as having donald trump as president. biden will likely not pretend the coronavirus "effects practically no one," as trump recently said. he will probably not lie fantastically every time he opens his mouth, quietly daring his opponents to challenge his dreamlike fantasies. he likely will not call for a "complete ban on muslims entering the united states."

The biggest problem with the shitposting is that it seems to proceed from a super condescending assumption that everybody else is somehow unaware of the glaring shortcomings of the incoming administration and/or the many systemic problems with the entire structure of our economy and society. But we actually know all that. We know all that and still think it’s a great fucking day when Donald Trump gets shown the door. Those things aren’t mutually exclusive. The leftier-than-thou shtick is tiring and feels especially tin-eared today. But you do you.
