The movies made about this era/administration will be legion, but we won't be in a position to enjoy them for several years at least.

That Four Seasons malarkey was like something from a Boards of Canada album pre-release campaign.

The press conference set-up in front of the nondescript business storefront made me think of the office-desk-in-the-field visual gag from Monty Python.

The first tell-all story.

Holy shit, I just found out that my sister, who lives in England, has duel citizenship and moved there years ago in no small part because she didn't like the direction the US was going in ... DID NOT VOTE! And she would have voted in/for PA, too. Apparently it was too inconvenient for some stupid reason (something like not having a printer), which is all the more bullshit, since she lives in a place that voted for its own clown and his clownish policies and there is no way she would have skipped *that* vote and so SHE KNOWS BETTER! Grrr. Even worse, I only learned this from my mom, so if I brought it up with my sister it would just be picking a fight when it no longer matters.

Meanwhile, my Australian/US sister in law requested her ballot ASAP, and rather than risk it not making it back in time to VA, she paid an extra $30 for expedited air and delivery confirmation.

So am I right in thinking no one needs to give a shit about Ohio or Florida anymore? That we can just toss them in the red column with Mississippi and move on with our lives?

Nothing about Ohio in there. To use some corporate jargon I've been encountering lately, I feel like Ohio and Florida are relegating themselves to "nice-to-have" status as opposed to "need-to-have."

Statehood is a simple majority of both houses of Congress signed by the President - theoretically as easy to pass as any bill.

As one of the boots on the ground here, I wish that were true, but I don't see it. It just feels like a 58R/42D state; the Rs are more and more stubborn and recalcitrant, every town's little liberal enclave feels besieged. The Delta is the only reliably blue part of the state imo.
