from the Perlstein tweet:

Rush's contribution is that that the only reason the CNN and the networks aren't calling it for Biden (having already, of course, wired Biden's victory) is to force Fox to do it, as a ritual humiliation.

I don’t know how much stock to put in Rushbo’s media evals but this is kind of funny if true

Reminded of Saddam Hussein's spider hole... hopefully Trump can find something similar in the Rose Garden, where they'll never find him.

Biden now 20k ahead in PA

Maresn3st, Saturday, 7 November 2020 00:11 (five years ago)

Notable update on the 538 live blog:

Biden will name Gary Gensler as an adviser on issues involving Wall Street and regulation of markets, The Wall Street Journal reported Friday. It’s not clear exactly what this means in terms of Gensler’s role, namely whether he will be advising Biden on which policies to propose as president, working during the transition to help Biden choose his presidential economic team or being positioned to take a key role on that team himself.

This news is interesting for two reasons. It suggests Biden is moving forward in trying to start planning his administration even though he has not yet been declared the winner of the election by most outlets. Also, Gensler is allied with Sen. Elizabeth Warren and favors more strident regulation of Wall Street, so this choice is getting plaudits from more liberal Democrats who have worried Biden might pick figures more resistant to regulations of Wall Street firms.

Nevada case denied in federal court. Judge even cited Kavanaugh as to why!

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 7 November 2020 00:21 (five years ago)

The PA votes have been coming in a trickle. Seems like the big thing to wait for is 60,000+ Maricopa County votes in AZ that have been promised for later tonight.

jaymc, Saturday, 7 November 2020 00:23 (five years ago)

xp the accounts of the various hearings have been interesting, and the comments from the judges involved have been scathing

Dan S is correct re Kavanaugh mention. Meantime:

In the middle of a bunch of false claims about the media and the counting process in his video, Giuliani, who is urging the president to keep contesting vote counts, does a commercial for a cigar store https://t.co/9shErDjcCJ

Btw the people who know still think Biden will win Arizona. If everyone calls it, then they are going to call it properly?

Trump still winning the late Pima drops, but not at all what he needed from this last batch. https://t.co/J9mRWG1FgU

Such skill

I asked Newt Gingrich what proof he had of claims he made on Fox News today about poll watchers being blocked from observing. A spox emailed back: “When Speaker Gingrich made his earlier comment, he was speaking on the best information he had at the time.”https://t.co/K9Jz99xepa pic.twitter.com/MVA2dPi7Ej

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 7 November 2020 01:02 (five years ago)

Aw

Breaking on @MSNBC: NBC's Pete Williams reports the Supreme Court has issued an order in the Pennsylvania case, but it’s not what Republicans wanted. Justice Alito repeats the guidance that post-Tuesday mail ballots must be segregated, but it doesn't direct them to stop counting.

The margins are pretty thin relative to the outstanding uncounted votes in all four contested states that are leaning Biden right now, I guess it makes some sense that the networks are reluctant to call it just yet, but I don’t remember such an excruciatingly slow vote count like this in 2016.

Dan S, Saturday, 7 November 2020 01:32 (five years ago)

My memory is that Sinema/McSally took longer than this, right?
