it looks like either twitter's coding, or ILX's embed coding, has changed such that deleted tweets no longer get preserved when embedded :(

Still seems to be working like before, can you link a broken post?
― stet, Friday, 11 December 2020 01:09 (three years ago) link
cursed images: let's get together and pin down the aesthetic!
and
END TO END BERNERS: The Official Bernie Sanders 2020 Crew thread
both have similar trackery code thingies on the end, but the tweet urls don't load with those stripped either
― huge rant (sic), Friday, 11 December 2020 01:28 (three years ago) link
Ah - I think what might have happened there is the tweet was posted after it had been deleted. If it’s posted before deletion we get a copy of the text and store it in our DB. After deletion we can only store the link. We only have the link in both those cases. Strange that two have happened like that, though.
― stet, Friday, 11 December 2020 13:22 (three years ago) link
Yeah, it was seeing them both happen an hour apart that made it look like a pattern. Cheers!

Not sure if someone already asked this, but the ability to cross-post threads across boards would be cool. For example, this one:
What are your kids listening to in 2021?
would be good on ILM and IL People-Making.

ban any thread titles including the words "Joe Biden" as for some reason they always turn into furious FPfests

Maybe automatically remove the fbclid from embeds since posters can't seem to do it themselves.

re: new "Q" thread, maybe we have reached critical mass for ever-elusive ILP board?
I think it's evident that we all have different thresholds for politics threads and need the occasional break...the option to section them off for that purpose alone would be super helpful

If not sna then current borad new answers or back to the thread. Board list seems the least useful option.

actually, i don't care really ...

Sometimes you forget you already picked a bread.
Ideal for ilx: if I've already voted show me my vote on screen and maybe allow me to change my mind
(I realise I'm probably attempting to ruin the board with pointless improvements now, like how Spotify can never stick with something useful)
― The Man DeLorean (onimo), Friday, 5 February 2021 01:15 (three years ago) link
it should just show which bread you picked. Only the bread.
― sarahell, Friday, 5 February 2021 01:19 (three years ago) link
Poll options should, post result, retain their original order in a bracket or s'thing because doofuses like trís will persist in referring to them throughout the thread as "the first option" or etc and it makes a balls of it once they reorder

Ok here’s one: I would love to be able to post-date a post to go up at a later time/date. Reason: many times I see a bookmark refreshed and it reminds me to post something about the topic. However, that seems kind of rude to the first refresher. It would be nice to be able to write my post but give the first refresher at least a few hours before stomping on their post.

Is it possible to return search results either sorted by "last updated" date or have that info included with the post's "started on" date? Would help in using the "proper" thread, where the title isn't enough.

do spaces or carriage returns, or both, break "hidden text" tags?

I had an idea, don't know if its been floated before.
But I have noticed that there is some interest and talk in perhaps getting new users to ILX, even reaching out to younger potential users and friends who might be interested, etc.
I think that one thing that might be helpful would be some sort of permanent, dedicated link to an "Introduce Yourself" thread or page. I've shared the site with some friends who seem like they would be into ILX, and at least two of them have wondered 'where to start.'
Feel free to shoot me down, but it was just a thought that occurred to me this morning

There is no beginning (not sure about there being an end). You don't look for the start when you enter a pub and hear the ongoing conversations around you either. You just join in, or you don't?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
