I really doubt the Hunter Biden story generated any significant movement

frogbs, Wednesday, 4 November 2020 08:21 (five years ago)

all cats are beautiful (silby), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 08:22 (five years ago)

Maybe it’s because of smug British tankies posting tweets in a message board thread

I really hope Inslee doesn’t get a cabinet post bc then a guy named Denny would be WA-Gov

all cats are beautiful (silby), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 08:30 (five years ago)

A Biden victory which half the country and a Senate majority considers illegitimate is really not the greatest outcome

frogbs, Wednesday, 4 November 2020 08:31 (five years ago)

I don't need the greatest outcome. I need Trump out. The planet needs Trump out.

keen reverberations of twee (collardio gelatinous), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 08:32 (five years ago)

Exactly. This night is not exactly what I wanted but it’s just so monumentally important that Trump loses. I still think that might happen. But this shit is just gonna be so awful for this country.

frogbs, Wednesday, 4 November 2020 08:36 (five years ago)

Win or lose, Never Trumpers can hold their heads high. We made our best case, wrote our most cogent columns, produced our most convincing commercials.

I know that I left it all out on the field. We all did.

The rest is up to the voters. https://t.co/WzvVcLn18y

keen reverberations of twee (collardio gelatinous), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 08:38 (five years ago)

what a weird fuckin night

amazed and proud of arizona but otherwise what a shitshow

not looking forward to nervously checking the news every 10 minutes over the next few days

(The Other) J.D. (J.D.), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 08:41 (five years ago)

To frogbs point, yeah this isn't the worst outcome of election night (ie not the election itself) but it's def not good.

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 08:42 (five years ago)

I will never not be shocked by how many people look at Trump and go yes this is the guy to lead my country

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 08:43 (five years ago)

You are still trying to infer people’s mental states or decision processes from election results which is a mistake!

all cats are beautiful (silby), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 08:46 (five years ago)

I don't think any lincoln project ad changed a single voter's mind

Wayne Grotski (symsymsym), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 08:47 (five years ago)

apparently nothing on earth can change a single voter's mind

Dan I., Wednesday, 4 November 2020 08:48 (five years ago)

“leading the country” is too abstract an idea, I don’t think Joe Biden “should” “lead the country”

all cats are beautiful (silby), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 08:48 (five years ago)

No voter’s mind has ever been changed about anything, within epsilon

all cats are beautiful (silby), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 08:49 (five years ago)

I'm wondering if working in the hospitality industry in large numbers partially explains why Latinos moved towards Trump. I've spoken with a few restaurant workers and owners who are at their wits' end with the lockdown and reduced customer capacity. Obviously you feel terrible for them, but it's fool's gold to think Trump (who uh already is in power) is going to solve their woes. Then again everything about Trump is fool's gold.

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 08:50 (five years ago)

It’s impossible to convince anyone of anything through means short of feeding poison into their brains constantly throughout their waking moments

all cats are beautiful (silby), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 08:51 (five years ago)

Ok fine dude change it to "vote for him for president" Jfc the nitpicking

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 08:51 (five years ago)

I just don’t get why the search for answers, there was nothing last time and there’s nothing this time, it’s billiard balls bouncing off each other chaotically and occasionally filling out ballots on a whim

all cats are beautiful (silby), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 08:52 (five years ago)

Not searching for answers. I'll never understand it. Hence never not be shocked.

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 08:53 (five years ago)

humans like to find meaning in random patterns I guess

Wayne Grotski (symsymsym), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 08:53 (five years ago)

Our fellow humans are impenetrably unknowable

all cats are beautiful (silby), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 08:54 (five years ago)

somebody needs to remind DT coups are meant to be exports, not imports

||||||||, Wednesday, 4 November 2020 08:55 (five years ago)

You're the coup!

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 08:55 (five years ago)

Anyway talk to your state legislators about the national popular vote interstate compact!

A Scampo Darkly (Le Bateau Ivre), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 08:58 (five years ago)

The good news is that no matter who wins America will still be terrible indefinitely

all cats are beautiful (silby), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 09:01 (five years ago)

dead people winning election is a venerable tradition in most deomcracies, at least they can't take bungs anymore

@nightKarlMalone (✔️) (sic), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 09:03 (five years ago)

Trump's economic approval remains slightly positive, much better than his overall approval. People don't seem to blame him for our current economic woes and outside of COVID, Democrats haven't exactly put in the work over the last few decades to show that they'd make the economy better for people.

Donald Trump Also Sucks, Of Course (milo z), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 09:04 (five years ago)

turning on that faucet already eh

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 09:07 (five years ago)

I don't think you can discount the number of people who believe the COVID response (in human cost and economic support) wouldn't be that much better under a Democrat/Biden. Trump's coronavirus approval has sat steadily just under 40%, but that's a base to work off of if you add the people I'm talking about.

Donald Trump Also Sucks, Of Course (milo z), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 09:10 (five years ago)

though the two party system has def failed everyone

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 09:11 (five years ago)

... where are you getting this? xp

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 09:12 (five years ago)

is it terrible to opine from my ivory tower (britain) that a controversially narrow trump win at least nicely clears deck for the grand aoc uprising

imago, Wednesday, 4 November 2020 09:15 (five years ago)

It doesn’t really make the least bit of sense so yes it’s terrible

all cats are beautiful (silby), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 09:15 (five years ago)

nah but that’s sort of like how i fantasized about a leftist uprising when trump won the first time

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 09:16 (five years ago)

Have another English breakfast or whatever and try again!

all cats are beautiful (silby), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 09:16 (five years ago)

lol just checking

imago, Wednesday, 4 November 2020 09:16 (five years ago)

My brother is 25 & angry over this so I was like “Let me tell you about a little court case called Bush v Gore.”

Things are looking better for Biden, so hopefully he gets enough to get to 270 asap, but fuck me, not nice to wake up to. I don’t care for him much but jfc, get Trump out and sort the rest out later.
