I was here to discuss the election night but now I'm 100% just about the treeship meltdown.

Van Horn Street, Wednesday, 4 November 2020 04:19 (five years ago)

WHY COULDN'T THE DEMOCRATS HAVE FOUND SOMEONE INSPIRING THEN, IF THAT IS WHAT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE, LIKE JESUS CHRIST

srsly. But also: I tried!

We've been waiting for this day since the day after the 2016 election. Politically speaking, the past four years have been unmitigated horror. It is understandable if we are on edge.

the unappreciated charisma of cows (Aimless), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 04:22 (five years ago)

whoa!

BIG FOX NEWS call: JOE BIDEN wins ARIZONA.

Huge development for Democrats.

Yeah, now please Michigan and Wisconsin don't fail me now

Alba, Wednesday, 4 November 2020 04:24 (five years ago)

i guess for some reason, trump making fun of mccain for 4 years straight and also murdering a few hundred people with his dumbass indoor rally cost him a a few percentage points of support!!!!

Karl Malone, Wednesday, 4 November 2020 04:24 (five years ago)

also very early days in the CA count, but this fucking RULES

Urban planner Nithya Raman leads Los Angeles City Councilman David Ryu in L.A.'s Silver Lake-to-Sherman Oaks district, 53.1% to Ryu's 46.8%

keen reverberations of twee (collardio gelatinous), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 04:25 (five years ago)

thank you so much to our republican allies on the other side of the aisle

Karl Malone, Wednesday, 4 November 2020 04:25 (five years ago)

"The root of the pain"--yes. I wanted to see Trump crushed tonight, just for the satisfaction of watching him confront that. Biden still looks okay (I think), but I won't get that. Not to mention the possibility of days/weeks of uncertainty.

clemenza, Wednesday, 4 November 2020 04:26 (five years ago)

UMS OTM. I just got mad at my cat for wanting attention!

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 04:26 (five years ago)

Fox calls Arizona for Biden.

Patriotic Goiter (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 04:26 (five years ago)

Good for Arizona...but no tie, please.

clemenza, Wednesday, 4 November 2020 04:27 (five years ago)

my guess now is we'll wake up tomorrow to a tie or biden +1 or +2, and then the PA count will come in and who knows at that point.

π” π”žπ”’π”¨ (caek), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 04:28 (five years ago)

no tie, please.

you gotta be more specific than that. rly.

the unappreciated charisma of cows (Aimless), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 04:29 (five years ago)

It was my vote that sealed AZ. You're welcome.

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 04:29 (five years ago)

i find it difficult to see how trump wins if that fox AZ call is right.

π” π”žπ”’π”¨ (caek), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 04:29 (five years ago)

AZ LatinX pulling their weight!

GOP putting faith in Michigan, I think.

Alba, Wednesday, 4 November 2020 04:30 (five years ago)

I'm surprised they called Arizona that fast, I wonder if Biden is winning by a lot -- you guys are living the trauma of 2016 but I'm still living the trauma of 2000 and thinking about seeing Arizona un-called...

Guayaquil (eephus!), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 04:30 (five years ago)

I'm actually living the trauma of 2000

like, I’m eating an elephant head (katherine), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 04:31 (five years ago)

But if the AZ call is right, it matters psychologically because it means Biden can potentially put it away before Pennsylvania finishes counting on.... Friday?

Guayaquil (eephus!), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 04:31 (five years ago)

difficult to see how trump wins if that fox AZ call is right.

Big polling errors in more than one of: WI, MI, MN, & PA.

the unappreciated charisma of cows (Aimless), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 04:31 (five years ago)

I don’t wanna be too optimistic but given what’s happening in other similar states, yes there is a polling error in Trumps favor, but it is not gonna be enough for him to win PA

frogbs, Wednesday, 4 November 2020 04:31 (five years ago)

I'm actually living the trauma of 2000

cheers fellow old

Guayaquil (eephus!), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 04:31 (five years ago)

not that old, just the first election I remember actually following

one of my two dads, nate cohn, doesn't like the look of the 100% reported counties in western PA, but my other nate dad is sanguine so i don't know who to trust.

k3v, i am sorry. Everybody else, i am sorry. I know saying sorry and continuing to go purple faced when I'm having an anxiety attack is a bad look so i am gonna bow out and not shit up the thread

k3vin k., Wednesday, 4 November 2020 04:33 (five years ago)

Biden will squeak out a win, but without the senate it will be a pretty pyrrhic victory. He's going to be even weaker and ineffectual than he was going to be anyway. And no landslide means Trump will never, ever go away, he'll be a sore on the body politic for years to come. Still, if he loses, I'll take what I can get.

Zelda Zonk, Wednesday, 4 November 2020 04:33 (five years ago)

There are a zillion PA mail ins that are supposedly favoring Biden heavily and they’re just starting counting them

circa1916, Wednesday, 4 November 2020 04:33 (five years ago)

AZ all comes down to Maricopa County. They must see a strong enough trend to feel confident of their call.

the unappreciated charisma of cows (Aimless), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 04:33 (five years ago)

looks like proposition 22 is going to pass, and rent control is going to fail in CA because we're a bunch of nativists with a death wish. early days, but the leads are huge.

π” π”žπ”’π”¨ (caek), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 04:34 (five years ago)

I forgot to ask my sister how she was voting on prop 22, shit

like, I’m eating an elephant head (katherine), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 04:34 (five years ago)

AZ is an interesting state because it's like the least rural state in the nation IIRC. makes sense that it would be the next place to go purple.

Love to all. I'm going to bed to dream of Arizona.

i'm still grappling with the fact that yes, this is going to take weeks

welcome to democracy!

@DennisTheePerrin (βœ”οΈ) (sic), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 04:35 (five years ago)

David Brooks is on PBS, vibrating so oddly towards the screen while talking about how tight the Republicans are gonna pull that he looks like he's totally Toobining

@DennisTheePerrin (βœ”οΈ) (sic), Wednesday, 4 November 2020 04:36 (five years ago)

felt nice voting for ed markey and ayana pressley tonight. was a little weird voting for biden/harris and I know my vote was meaningless but voting against trump felt good enough that I pulled the trigger

k3vin k., Wednesday, 4 November 2020 04:36 (five years ago)

the economist forecast went from 77% biden after FL was called to 95% biden after arizona was called.

those numbers are both too high IMO, but the change feels about right to me.

i don't know why i thought tonight would be any different than the rest of this cursed era

Karl Malone, Wednesday, 4 November 2020 04:38 (five years ago)

Remember a lot of people think Biden being down 15 or so before the mail ins are counted is a good result for him

frogbs, Wednesday, 4 November 2020 04:38 (five years ago)

the terrible thing is that it's a different situation in every state. if you dig deep, you can look into every state and see what the situation is. in one state, biden's down 10% and that's great news because mail-ins aren't counted yet. in another, biden's up 5%, and that means he's doomed. while you dig deep, new results are coming in and changing everything. it's a fool's errand. you can bust your ass just to be ahead of the curve by 20 minutes tonight. who cares.

the main thing is that it's not a decisive rebuke. or at least, it doesn't seem to be.
