kinda like you were a kid and were announcing your own basketball game and kept shooting and going "and he NAILS IT AT THE BUZ-", then watched another airball soar over the hoop, rinse repeat

New: Biden camp internals show “strong” numbers in WI, MI, NC, GA, PA, AZ & NE-2. FL is true toss-up, senior adviser tells @NorahODonnell. Source says not seeing “red tide of low-propensity voters” for Trump. Dem says they are over-performing in WI, NC and GA. @cbsnews

AP has a breakdown of who's voting.

https://www.npr.org/2020/11/03/929478378/understanding-the-2020-electorate-ap-votecast-survey

One important note: during the 2018 midterms, 4% more women than men voted. This year, they're up by 7%.

but also fuck you (unperson), Tuesday, 3 November 2020 23:05 (five years ago)

"Biden camp internals show “strong” numbers in WI, MI, NC, GA, PA, AZ & NE-2. FL is true toss-up"

i could have told them exactly that by looking at 538, but thanks for the scoop, bo.

I've opened my first beer, because it's after 5 and I don't have to drive anyone around anymore. It's a pretty strong triple IPA, though, so some chance it's my only beer!

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 3 November 2020 23:07 (five years ago)

Because why else are we here so

From 4pm to 6pm, the partisan split in Broward was D43/R22/I35 (D+21). A very big blue shift over the course of the day. https://t.co/BwQGJhsT7c

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 3 November 2020 23:09 (five years ago)

suck on my partisan shift, Donnie

I just spoke with 28yr-old Miamian Alex Garcia. He said he woke up today thinking he was going to vote for Trump BUT he changed his mind at the voting booth. He ended up picking Biden to “go back to normal.”

nate cohn says florida looks 1% more GOP than their last poll. but biden was winning by 5% in their last poll. so ....

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Tuesday, 3 November 2020 23:13 (five years ago)

You guys, thanks so much for the updates. You’re keeping me sane. I’m so glad to be spending this day with you. Going for a third beer now... cheers!

epistantophus, Tuesday, 3 November 2020 23:14 (five years ago)

I'm telling you, why three beers when you can just have one big triple IPA?

Listening to George Harrison's "All Things Must Pass."

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 3 November 2020 23:17 (five years ago)

Steve Scalise upbeat on PBS... forget the fake polls, there's a lot of energy out there (he says).

Andy the Grasshopper, Tuesday, 3 November 2020 23:23 (five years ago)

have set up a second TV on the floor so we can stream tally coverage with the sound off while watching music videos & performances on the main one, and switch the sound over if anything intersting happens

@DennisTheePerrin (✔️) (sic), Tuesday, 3 November 2020 23:23 (five years ago)

Good luck to all the americans ilxorians. I love you all.

Van Horn Street, Tuesday, 3 November 2020 23:24 (five years ago)

btw my brother and a couple of friends went to high school with Kamala H. in Montreal. we're convinced that's when she started wearing Chucks (there was a healthy contingent of skater punks at Westmount High at the time). and yeah, she was rad (broadly speaking).

keen reverberations of twee (collardio gelatinous), Tuesday, 3 November 2020 23:24 (five years ago)

#onethread and all but I'm certain there is still a contingent of skater punks at Westmount High.

Van Horn Street, Tuesday, 3 November 2020 23:26 (five years ago)

lol true

@DennisTheePerrin (✔️) (sic), Tuesday, 3 November 2020 23:27 (five years ago)

<3 to all, those who are here as well as those who needed to /have been able to unplug completely to get through this.

epistantophus, Tuesday, 3 November 2020 23:30 (five years ago)

Sic, the expensive bubbly we had when Howard lost his seat was the sweetest ever. May this be similarly good to you.

it's amazing having the 538 liveblog stuff up in a tab, warning about paying attention to exit polls, while watching the cnn poll dudes breathlessly go through all their early exit poll returns

@sic_bot (✔️) (Karl Malone), Tuesday, 3 November 2020 23:35 (five years ago)

we are for sure on a bizarre ride II the pharcyde for sure for sure

US exit polls are incredibly useful a few weeks after the election.

they are basically correct to within 0.5% at the minute the polls close in in the UK.

what a world! anyway!

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Tuesday, 3 November 2020 23:37 (five years ago)

Same

2016 was one of the most painful experiences of my life. I’ve been anticipating/dreading this day for exactly 4 years. I’m probably the most nervous I’ve ever been in my life.

But I’m still confident. I haven’t seen a single convincing theory on how Trump can win. My brain tells me we’re about to get good news but my gut is turning.

frogbs, Tuesday, 3 November 2020 23:37 (five years ago)

Hi everyone! rare/lapsed slight poster here to say: yes, I too read this (and other) threads exhaustively even though I never post. I'm sad because I just got overruled at home and now must listen to the news instead of music.

chinavision!, Tuesday, 3 November 2020 23:38 (five years ago)

Turn the news off! I will text you when it’s over.

Here's some news for you all: my big beer (10.5%) more than did its job. Time to focus on making dinner, which is a delicious Mexican-style chicken soup.

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 3 November 2020 23:42 (five years ago)

Feeling gratitude to and solidarity with everybody here, what a fucking massive headache we've shared these past four years.

Here's to better things ahead!
