For all the wonderful Americans I know and have seen post here - I hope you get a government which starts you back on the path to the good things America stands for.

As another non-US person my opinions are also unneeded, but all the best tomorrow and may Trump have some sort of paralysing embolism when he loses.

You laugh, but I'd venture to say that her policy positions are closer to the ILX mean than Biden's. In a less skewed and stupid world she'd receive some percentage of the vote.

I’m going in hard, all TV all the time. Taking day off work tomorrow.

My company announced yesterday afternoon that it was shutting down today to allow everyone to vote. I was thinking I'd have preferred having off tomorrow instead.

I woke up at 4:30am to give my daughter a ride to the poll location she's working (something she signed up and trained to do all on her own). The day slowly came into focus: it's dark, it's early, I've got to drive her to the poll place, oh, wait, the poll place! It's election day! And then the gravity of the situation quickly became clear and for a second I thought I was going to barf. But I didn't. I think this will be a day of lots of deep breaths.

About 100 people in line to vote in Shaker Heights, OH - took about 40 minutes. It moved along very quickly. Many more young people volunteering at the polls than the last time I voted in person (2004).

When I left the line was down to about 5.

Took tomorrow off from work. Drinking brandy 2nite.

Also off tomorrow, also up all night. Did this for the first time in 2004 (I think I bailed in 2000 the first time they called Florida) - the night of dubious post-facto CNN exit poll tweaks and Ohio weirdness. I said "never again", but 2008 was literally a party.

I'm not going near the NYT needle(s). (I will).

Won't be staying up, as I've stayed up the last two nights on deadline and am lol British. I'm reasonably confident Biden will win, though not so confident that we'll know tomorrow. But I have to be honest, if Trump wins again, or even "wins"... I don't really know what happens after that, or how to maintain whatever sliver of optimism and hope I've been cradling the last four years.

Chipping in as another longtime lurker as well. I have very much appreciated this community's running commentary and analysis on the broken state of US politics (and on everything else, of course).

Due to a work assignment, about a year ago, I moved to NE PA -- my specific portion, solidly Trump country. (Behind enemy lines...) I handed in my absentee ballot about a week ago.

Praying for a Biden win; I know it'll probably take weeks to sort out.

Feel like this was the last time I enjoyed being an American.

here's a reason for optimism - typically for a re-election bid, the incumbent's approval rating correlates very strongly with their vote share. Trump is unique in American history in that he is the only president to never crack a 50% approval rating - he's pretty much sat at 44% his entire term. meaning you can expect him to win about 44% of the vote, in which case he's going to get crushed - 46% got him over the finish line in 2016, but that was with strong 3rd party support, which doesn't exist this year (if Clinton had won 20% of Gary Johnson's vote in WI, she would've taken the state). if Trump gets 44% then Biden's getting 54% and this thing will be over before midnight.
