i had assumed that substack was just a platform for mass email delivery, like tinyletter or something?

like, are enough ppl really going to subscribe to glem's newsletter to pay him six figures and give substack a cut?

i mean the way he's going he'll get koch money but still

not sure if glenn has a hardcore fanbase but some writers cld prob make it work like say andrew sullivan, however idk if substack is the best way to do that

yeah

if i were one of these newly unemployed big name writers and i didnt want get big investment money and have a whole organization that needed to be managed produce big numbers and so forth i might try something substackish thats like half podcasts with a staff of less than 5 people, tho i would think hard about whether i wanted to use a 3rd party platform like substack thats ultimately concerned about whats good for them rather than you

but im sure substack is prob just a stopgap for these guys anyway, unless substack has a ton of money they feel like throwing around, but then even that wont last
