lol at Trump and Biden arguing about which of them thought Biden's racist crime bill was worse

Un-fooled and placid (sic), Friday, 23 October 2020 02:14 (five years ago)

does Trump look short of breath at all, has he clutched his chest at any point, has he coughed up something that looked bloody, has he been given last rites, is there a hand reaching down from the Heavens at all

Neanderthal, Friday, 23 October 2020 02:14 (five years ago)

He ran in 1999.

Supposedly he said “go ahead?” I dunno, I couldn’t take more than a couple minutes at a time.

Swear to God, I was about half-expecting him to ask the audience to smile.

love trump's repeated attacks on biden for not "getting it done" during his 8 years as vice president, on issues that trump disagrees with and hasn't tried to do himself

president of my cat (Karl Malone), Friday, 23 October 2020 02:22 (five years ago)

fretless porpentine (Ye Mad Puffin), Friday, 23 October 2020 02:23 (five years ago)

Biden should respond by pointing out how powerless and cucked Mike Pence is

Dogwhistle like a foghorn doesn’t stand up to any scrutiny when you break it down.

Position Position, Friday, 23 October 2020 02:25 (five years ago)

god, how i wish biden would simply say:

we have the lowest emissions of 35 years, this year, because of covid-19's impact on the economy.

president of my cat (Karl Malone), Friday, 23 October 2020 02:25 (five years ago)

sic, i'm with you - he fucking blows on climate change

president of my cat (Karl Malone), Friday, 23 October 2020 02:25 (five years ago)

i expect to be enraged with him over the next 4 years, just sayin

The little engine that choogled (hardcore dilettante), Friday, 23 October 2020 02:27 (five years ago)

Well even though I’m not really watching I’m getting good updates from the NYTimes:

Patti Cohen, National Economics Correspondent

This is a substantive, civil debate – and that could help Trump in that his erratic and divisive style has turned off some voters.

JoeStork, Friday, 23 October 2020 02:28 (five years ago)

how does biden get wrong a line that has been everywhere

I still don't understand, at all, what the rationale is behind news anchors and organisations giving someone uninterrupted time to lie.

trump declares that biden will destroy the oil industry.

"will you remember that, texas, will you remember that, oklahoma?"

looool

this is pathetic

president of my cat (Karl Malone), Friday, 23 October 2020 02:35 (five years ago)

Well.. it wasn't quite the shitshow everyone was hoping for.

Andy the Grasshopper, Friday, 23 October 2020 02:36 (five years ago)

With Texas on the edge, Biden saying basically “yeah, we wanna take you out” was a HUGE gaffe.

The little engine that choogled (hardcore dilettante), Friday, 23 October 2020 02:37 (five years ago)

Ugh. I feel like Trump goaded Biden into telling the truth -- that, in the long run, we are going to have to transition to primarily renewable energy production -- and that truth is going to help Trump more than any of the immensely stupid falsehoods Trump uttered tonight is going to help Biden.

Guayaquil (eephus!), Friday, 23 October 2020 02:37 (five years ago)

i didn't even catch whatever you're talking about

i have been drinking tho

president of my cat (Karl Malone), Friday, 23 October 2020 02:38 (five years ago)

xp

president of my cat (Karl Malone), Friday, 23 October 2020 02:38 (five years ago)

Biden had already said that renewable jobs are $50 an hour jobs; it was a big fuckup not to reiterate that after the Houston attack from Trump.

Un-fooled and placid (sic), Friday, 23 October 2020 02:39 (five years ago)

Biden should be better at this than he is. Nearly every time Trump pivoted, Joe ran after the pivot point to rebut, like a cat after earbuds. Pretty poor performance, really.

The little engine that choogled (hardcore dilettante), Friday, 23 October 2020 02:40 (five years ago)

True, especially since there have been huge layoffs in the oil biz very recently

xp

Mr. Cacciatore (Moodles), Friday, 23 October 2020 02:40 (five years ago)

The good news is almost no one made it to the end of the debate.

On average, this critic grades 8.3 points lower than other critics (Eric H.), Friday, 23 October 2020 02:41 (five years ago)

Funniest part of this debate was when Biden said to Trump "I don't where you come from," and Trump responded under his breath "Queens."

jaymc, Friday, 23 October 2020 02:41 (five years ago)

*don't know

jaymc, Friday, 23 October 2020 02:41 (five years ago)

nothing about this performance is going to help or hurt anybody. the cake is baked, people know who they're voting for at this point.

Neanderthal, Friday, 23 October 2020 02:42 (five years ago)

basically the fact that Biden didn't get trounced in any of the two debates, and that Trump had negative takeaways from his first debate and his townhall = the outcome we wanted.

now to avoid any October surprises for a week and a half.

Neanderthal, Friday, 23 October 2020 02:43 (five years ago)

now let's hurry up and get him in office, and then before long we'll be on Biden's ass, like we should be

Neanderthal, Friday, 23 October 2020 02:44 (five years ago)

Can't see that anything big will come out of that. I worry a tiny bit that the bar is so low for Trump at this point--especially after the past two or three weeks--that just being coherent and sort of normal (independent of the truth of whatever he says), being combative but not crazy and interrupting, then that's enough. Biden was fine--he got tangled up a lot (I think he said "prevailing wages" at one point), but was always able to right himself within a few seconds and make his point.

clemenza, Friday, 23 October 2020 02:45 (five years ago)

This seemed shorter than usual.

Christine Green Leafy Dragon Indigo, Friday, 23 October 2020 02:45 (five years ago)

Prediction: trump numbers up very marginally after tonight, doesn’t alter the outcome BUT Dems will not take Texas (which was a long shot anyhow, but what a sweeeet longshot to shoot for)

The little engine that choogled (hardcore dilettante), Friday, 23 October 2020 02:46 (five years ago)

biden mostly fucked this up and trump, despite everything he said being bullshit, horrifying, or both, mostly did not, so this does worry me

like, I’m eating an elephant head (katherine), Friday, 23 October 2020 02:47 (five years ago)

yeah, first reaction is this won't change anything, which is very bad for trump

president of my cat (Karl Malone), Friday, 23 October 2020 02:47 (five years ago)

no way will Trump's numbers edge upwards. third debates (ok, 'second' debate in this case) rarely generate any prolonged bounce.

if Trump gets a bounce, it'll be based on voter trends from within the last week unrelated to the debate, or something that happens between now and then that we don't know about yet.

Texas is a bit of a reach, but if Biden doesn't win it, it has little to do with tonight IMO

Neanderthal, Friday, 23 October 2020 02:49 (five years ago)

totally get the fears about trump winning, still, for real

it terrifies me too. i remember feeling this strongly in late oct 2016 (yeah but trump? fuckin come on)

president of my cat (Karl Malone), Friday, 23 October 2020 02:49 (five years ago)

i also am probably alone (here) in thinking that biden did fine tonight

president of my cat (Karl Malone), Friday, 23 October 2020 02:50 (five years ago)
