It's like his perceptive bubble has finally and inevitably shrunk to within centimeters of his physical corpus. He cannot see beyond 'I am saying words right now so they must be amazing words that everyone will love'.

OrificeMax (Old Lunch), Thursday, 22 October 2020 16:47 (five years ago)

people are still gonna watch 60 Minutes though

there's 2 weeks left until Election Day, the more time he wastes on petty bullshit the better

frogbs, Thursday, 22 October 2020 16:48 (five years ago)

Probably the 60 minutes edit would be more favorable for him. I bet they'd just lose the most embarrassing moments.

Mr. Cacciatore (Moodles), Thursday, 22 October 2020 16:48 (five years ago)

The only thing disastrous about the portion of the interview I was able to stomach was his incessant defensiveness, his mewling woundedness wrt any question or comment that deters him from saying wholly reality-divorced shit about how wonderful he is. It just makes him look utterly insecure.

OrificeMax (Old Lunch), Thursday, 22 October 2020 16:49 (five years ago)

I like how @KT_So_It_Goes has been framing his daily outburst in terms of the percentage of the remaining time he has before Nov 3.

excellent use of 8.33% of your remaining days sir https://t.co/0CB3YBpzZo

Mr. Cacciatore (Moodles), Thursday, 22 October 2020 16:51 (five years ago)

That Stahl move is...not going to go well for him.

Yabbut if all you have is a base-only strategy, you have to double down on it.

fretless porpentine (Ye Mad Puffin), Thursday, 22 October 2020 16:52 (five years ago)

I have a hunch the ratings for this Sunday’s 60 Minutes will be through the roof. Trump’s just given it a giant advertisement. The audience for broadcast television and the audience for Trump’s social media are not the same audience. Also I expect 60 Mins will be doing some extra reporting around the interview - will probably even talk about Trump releasing the footage, fold that into the story.

Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Thursday, 22 October 2020 16:54 (five years ago)

It's just...as an interview of some random public figure, it's a pathetic portrait worthy of a few lols. As an interview of a president making an eleventh hour case for his reelection, it's...well, yeah, a disaster.

OrificeMax (Old Lunch), Thursday, 22 October 2020 16:54 (five years ago)

Kudos to Trump for appealing to his base without expanding it 12 days before Election Day.

Patriotic Goiter (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 22 October 2020 16:56 (five years ago)

Yes and trumpoids will spin out the last week comparing the raw vs. edited footage, because SEE? MEDIA BIAS!!eleven!!!.

Great use of time, y'all. Golf clap.

fretless porpentine (Ye Mad Puffin), Thursday, 22 October 2020 16:57 (five years ago)

I just saw a part where he says Biden is in the middle of big scandal, and she's all "come on, he is noooooooot." And this after Trump complains that if Biden is eating an ice cream cone, the only question he gets is "what flavor ice cream is that?" And just two days ago Fox literally asked Trump what is favorite milkshake flavor was! And he refused to answer!

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 22 October 2020 16:58 (five years ago)

from what i could stomach of it, Stahl seemed to be conducting a pretty terrible interview in the sense that she wasn't really pushing back on him in any substantive way, not half as much as Savannah Guthrie managed during the town hall.

Evans on Hammond (evol j), Thursday, 22 October 2020 17:00 (five years ago)

She totally pushes back on him. But he's pushing back against a really stupid dishonest wall.

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 22 October 2020 17:01 (five years ago)

who among persuadable old people who care about this stuff is going to watch something shot on a cellphone without editing and a terrible mic on their phone for an hour to get the "truth"? they'll just watch in on sunday night.

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Thursday, 22 October 2020 17:10 (five years ago)

Pushing back is more than saying "cmon really?". Anyone can do that. A professional journalist should at the least be able to say "you're wrong…and here's why!".

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Thursday, 22 October 2020 17:10 (five years ago)

I think she does do that, as possible. But if she didn't eventually move on she'd get exactly one question asked, over and over, and it would never get answered. What's the Mitch Hedberg joke? "The thing that's depressing about tennis is that no matter how good I get, I'll never be as good as a wall."

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 22 October 2020 17:12 (five years ago)

I just want to say that I compulsively read and indeed post in this thread even though it makes my mood worse and accomplishes nothing BUT I did not know that perfecft Mitch Hedberg joke and so thank you for redeeming my practice for me, Josh.

He starts whining immediately about everything she says.

Muswell Hillbilly Elegy (President Keyes), Thursday, 22 October 2020 17:22 (five years ago)

It's awesome that he's tweeting out all his worst moments, good job!

Mr. Cacciatore (Moodles), Thursday, 22 October 2020 17:25 (five years ago)

"We hardly even knew Barron had it" (covid, that is)

I'm sure you barely noticed!

Muswell Hillbilly Elegy (President Keyes), Thursday, 22 October 2020 17:27 (five years ago)

If there were a fake ballot box, like those Letters to Santa boxes I see every Christmas, where I could drop my own fake ballots every day until election day, I would. Again and again and again until he's gone. Same for Santa, tbh.

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 22 October 2020 17:27 (five years ago)

you've described the SB system

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Thursday, 22 October 2020 17:29 (five years ago)

tweeting that out is giving me flashbacks to Don Jr.'s "here's the actual email where I was colluding with the Russians" stunt

best play would just to tweet "covfefe" again after the interview ends

frogbs, Thursday, 22 October 2020 17:35 (five years ago)

"full, flowing and 'magnificently brilliant'"

Next month's title, if "You're fired!" doesn't get it.

nickn, Thursday, 22 October 2020 17:39 (five years ago)

i swear to god, this is what they're mailing out two weeks before the election

he obviously leaked this because LS said (of the Biden crime family stuff), "Sir, this is 60 Minutes. We can't air accusations that are not verified."

Muswell Hillbilly Elegy (President Keyes), Thursday, 22 October 2020 17:45 (five years ago)

okay now that's pathetic, holy crap

rob, Thursday, 22 October 2020 17:47 (five years ago)

Lol that is the most insane shit I've ever seen. Two weeks before the election!

healthy cocaine off perfect butts (the table is the table), Thursday, 22 October 2020 17:50 (five years ago)

maybe our greatest accomplishments were the friends we didn't make along the way

superdeep borehole (harbl), Thursday, 22 October 2020 17:51 (five years ago)

Mollie Hemingway (writing in The Federalist) really appreciates how thoughtfully Trump has done nothing about the pandemic. It is among his greatest accomplishments!

the unappreciated charisma of cows (Aimless), Thursday, 22 October 2020 17:54 (five years ago)

it's like me every weekend of not really cleaning my house, maybe i'd feel better if every sunday night i said "but think of all the things you DIDN'T get done!"

superdeep borehole (harbl), Thursday, 22 October 2020 17:56 (five years ago)

A stranger's just a friend you haven't met.

trump 2020: he's done nothing and will continue to do nothing.

glengarry gary beers (voodoo chili), Thursday, 22 October 2020 18:04 (five years ago)

I have never seen Boyhood (and never will). Apparently the song from this Lincoln Project commercial features in it.

A Democratic aide told me to check out this ad — saying they thought it was actually pretty smart — and what they didn’t know is that it not only appeals to guys who want to make their fathers proud, but guys who love this song and still think “Boyhood” deserved Best Picture. https://t.co/bbDblEZYa2

but also fuck you (unperson), Thursday, 22 October 2020 18:04 (five years ago)

It's all about the notes you don't play.

jmm, Thursday, 22 October 2020 18:07 (five years ago)

That Lincoln Project ad was like every ad for Ford or Chevy pickup trucks, only more so.

the unappreciated charisma of cows (Aimless), Thursday, 22 October 2020 18:10 (five years ago)

the looming threat of authoritarianism is more like a ghost note, i guess

glengarry gary beers (voodoo chili), Thursday, 22 October 2020 18:10 (five years ago)

I'd imagine the number of regretful 2016 Trump voters who think Boyhood should have won best picture must be around 14 ppl

fretless porpentine (Ye Mad Puffin), Thursday, 22 October 2020 18:15 (five years ago)

fuck the dicks who run LP forever and ever, but I do appreciate that sentiment.

one of the few ‘powerful’ social media posts I saw after Trump won was an ex-cousin-in-law eloquently bemoaning how his Trump-voting parents had Raised Him Better Than This and how shook he was by the victory. resonated like hell for me, anyway.

A-B-C. A-Always, B-Be, C-Chooglin (will), Thursday, 22 October 2020 18:19 (five years ago)

the commercial itself is eh, but it ain’t really made for me

Trump is the best musician, because he’s never played a note — on any instrument!
