if someone hasn't already dubbed the "sad charlie brown" music on the "walking away from 60 minutes" footage tweeted above then the internet must be broken

if we could all get on the phones and start urging our legislators to cosponsor the RESTART act that would be great

Yay they're doing the one thing they do

http://www.politico.com/news/2020/10/20/biden-transition-republican-cabinet-429972

Among the names being floated for possible Biden Cabinet posts are Meg Whitman, the CEO of Quibi and former CEO of eBay, and former Ohio Gov. John Kasich, both of whom spoke at August’s Democratic National Convention.

she's running

Meanwhile, Katzenberg has told people in the industry that he may have to shut down the company, according to one person who spoke to him. Internally at Quibi, employees have said important strategy meetings have been cancelled, according to two people familiar with the matter. Some employees have informally been scheduling goodbye drinks...

haha I don't think Quibi can last another month no matter what happens with the election

And then some.

...And then some.

Can't wait to never have to see some of these fucking faces or hear some of these fucking voices or read some of these fucking names ever again.

This was something. Honestly, I can relate. Is it too late to vote for Trump?

Trump's speech in Erie, PA, began with him telling his audience he didn't really want to be there ("I wasn't coming to Erie"), continued with him repeatedly complaining about being cold (it's 50 degrees there), and ended with him announcing he was cutting it short. Weird. pic.twitter.com/KZ6moki8SS

I'm starting to think when he's out of office he's not going to do anything as ambitious as start a TV network or bullshit like that. He's just going to keep touring. An unmotivated speaker, as it were. Probably make a ton of cash. He could co-headline with Larry the Cable Guy or Dane Cook or some shithead. Up and comers will be all "yeah, it's the first of three opening slots for Trump, but a gig's a gig." He'll be the surprise headliner at state fairs, he'll pop into comedy clubs at the last minute. Maybe he'll do some PPV stuff.

"Why do they call them the Secret Service? Secret!? They're wearing black suits and sunglasses, have ear pieces and guns, and are standing right next to me! That's not very 'secret,' I mean, come on! I'm staying down the road at the Holiday Inn, by the way. Not a bad hotel. I mean, it's no Trump hotel, but hey, they did the best that they could. Got a pool. Got a buffet. 'Buffet.' What is that word, French? I mean, I guess it makes sense. It's nothing but French fries, French toast, French vanilla ice cream... If I didn't know better, I'd think all French people had fat asses! I suppose I'm not one to talk. But seriously, folks, I'm easy. All I need is a comfortable bed, and the Holiday Inn has plenty of those: the place is practically empty! But I'll say this much. I had the best night's sleep there. The best! I mean, once you've slept in the same bed as George Washington, there's nowhere to go but up. Am I right? I don't know how that guy ever got to sleep. Probably just lay there, grinding his teeth. Those weren't wooden dentures, that was a wooden mouthguard! True story!"

hopefully they'll bring back Celebrity Boxing and he'll fight The Rock and die of a cerebral hemorrhage on live tv while simultaneously soiling himself

Early vote total now a hair under 40 million. Based on the continuing rate the 2016 early vote total of 47 million will be broken at some point early tomorrow at the latest.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 21 October 2020 13:24 (five years ago)

my local Orlandiots have reported long lines, which isn't exactly rare for us, but usually when I early vote, I'm in and out. good to see, esp since we're pretty much a blue city

Re: Stahl.

He does this shit with every interview - very unfair to me, very biased.

A moderately sensible person might ask, "why did you agree to an interview then?"

But the galaxy brain realization is: this is kayfabe and theater. It is deliberate and it is choreographed and it is entirely posturing for the maga grievance crowd. He's running against the media, not against Biden.

Unfortunately for him, Leslie Stahl isn't on the ballot

fretless porpentine (Ye Mad Puffin), Wednesday, 21 October 2020 13:47 (five years ago)

It will be interesting to see the redistricting fights that ensue, not least because hey, census (fucked up, politically manipulated, virally tainted census).

Hoping the wave changes some state legislatures

STORM LAKE, Iowa — A Minnesota man was arrested this afternoon during Senator Elizabeth Warren's rally in Storm Lake, Iowa

Senator Warren's rally was scheduled for 12:45 Saturday afternoon at Our Place in Storm Lake.

Storm Lake Police say 58-year-old Randal James Thom of Lakefield, Minnesota was part of the overflow crowd outside the facility when the incident occurred around 1:00 p.m..

Thom allegedly became very vocal while Senator Warren was outside greeting attendees before he became aggressive and attempted to assault others in the crowd.

JACKSON — A Lakefield man was convicted earlier this month of two charges related to property damage caused by his unattended dogs.

Randal J. Thom, 59, was convicted of public nuisance and trespassing, both misdemeanors, related to a March barnyard attack on a rural Lakefield farm. Nearly two dozen chickens and two goats died, with others injured, due to Thom's Alaskan Malamute dogs. Thom's dog, named after president Donald Trump, was shot, and the incident gained international attention.

https://www.startribune.com/passionate-front-row-joe-trump-supporter-dies-in-highway-crash-near-st-peter/572804072/

A southwestern Minnesota man whose passionate support for President Donald Trump took him to dozens of political events around the country and recently to the White House was killed in a highway crash while returning from a political celebration in Florida.

Randal J. Thom, 60, of Lakefield died in a collision shortly before 4:30 p.m. Monday on Hwy. 169 north of St. Peter, the State Patrol said. Thom was driving his minivan south and hit a pickup truck that also was heading south, the patrol said.

Evidence of recent alcohol use by Thom was detected at the scene, according to the patrol. Thom was not wearing a seat belt, the patrol added. ...

Marthamae Kottschade said she and Thom were among roughly 50 Minnesotans who attended a gathering in support of law enforcement on the White House grounds on Oct. 10. It was at that event where the president, recovering from COVID-19, appeared on the balcony and removed his mask.

"Randal always said, 'I have a better chance of dying in a car crash than I do from COVID,'" Kottschade said.

Well, at the very least, he had a better chance of dying prematurely from something stupid and preventable than living out his natural life.

For as much attention as MI/WI/PA/FL are getting, the real swing states right now (where the candidates are currently polling within a percentage point of each other) are GA/OH/IA.
