Oh, it was way, waaaaaay more insane than "someone on ILX pretended to die in 9/11" - what actually happened was that a then-ILX0r* fabricated the deaths of two 'friends in NYC' in order to garner sympathy, attention and compassionate leave from work - culminating in his throwing a 'benefit evening' at a Freaky Trigger club night to raise funds on behalf of two people who were very much alive and in Brooklyn at the time of the crash. Some ILX0rs even attended this event and gave money, before the ruse was uncovered.

*the ILX0r in question was my scary abusive gaslighting ex, forever since known as DJ Munchausen. He had every intention of just pocketing and keeping the cash, but someone *cough* alerted Tom E and Ptee once they found out, and got them to divert the funds to the Red Cross.

Whatever crazy shit you may have thought went down in ancient ILX days of yore, the truth is always way weirder.

When I used to work in the bookies there was a guy I knew who was dodgy af who had multiple fund-raisers to help his family because apparently he was dying of cancer, despite looking remarkably healthy and suddenly progressing from betting in fivers and tenners to 50's and 100's. And then of course came the miraculous recovery that caused much scandalous whispering and tutting in Irish Catholic circles but there were no legal consequences. Maybe we were all terrible gossips, but I knew him from school - he was probably a psychopath was my amateur psychologist analysis of him!
