I'm quite curious to see how 75% of elected Republicans behave once he looses. No one should ever let them forget their support.

Dear Caroline Rose Giuliani,
Thank you for your post. I can relate 100%.
Sincerely,
James Redd

Trump has 94% job approval with Republicans (pre-going to the hospital). Going to be a lot more people trying to take his mantle than repudiating him.

Donald Trump Also Sucks, Of Course (milo z), Thursday, 15 October 2020 22:58 (five years ago)

As a majority, sure. But there will be more than a few trying to move in the other direction. Christie today saying "I was wrong," doubt that's just about masks.

clemenza, Thursday, 15 October 2020 23:05 (five years ago)

Christie's not (and will never again be) an elected official, though. Also may have seen God or multiple ghosts from his past recently.

Donald Trump Also Sucks, Of Course (milo z), Thursday, 15 October 2020 23:12 (five years ago)

literally the only person who has said that 94% of republicans approve of trump is trump. truer number is 57%, which is still significant, but the decline in enthusiasm is more important.

Scroll down to job approval by party identification.

The WaPo's gotcha that over the summer it wasn't 96%... just 88% isn't much of a gotcha.

Donald Trump Also Sucks, Of Course (milo z), Thursday, 15 October 2020 23:21 (five years ago)

Republicans fucking love him. He is the culmination of four decades of grievance and desire to own the libs - why wouldn't they love him?

Donald Trump Also Sucks, Of Course (milo z), Thursday, 15 October 2020 23:22 (five years ago)

C'mon... just because as much as it fits the narrative, nine out of every ten of the 82 million registered republicans aren't brainless toadying trumpist goons.

rb (soda), Thursday, 15 October 2020 23:27 (five years ago)

You should tell them that!

80+% in-party approval is pretty normal, Trump just happens to take it to Bush on 9/12 heights.

Donald Trump Also Sucks, Of Course (milo z), Thursday, 15 October 2020 23:29 (five years ago)

The WaPo's gotcha that over the summer it wasn't 96%... just 88% isn't much of a gotcha.

Depends a bit on the perspective: From the first to the second number, the proportion of not-approvals has tripled.

anatol_merklich, Thursday, 15 October 2020 23:34 (five years ago)

the increasing polarization is really bad imo

Dan S, Thursday, 15 October 2020 23:47 (five years ago)

Lol, Democrats aren't polarized enough yet for my liking.

Quiet Storm Thorgerson (PBKR), Thursday, 15 October 2020 23:50 (five years ago)

Is it? It's a reversion to the post-Civil War means. We don't need lib Republicans or conservative Dems

Patriotic Goiter (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 15 October 2020 23:50 (five years ago)

I am still waiting for the Democratic Steve King and it ain't AOC (as much as I love her).

Quiet Storm Thorgerson (PBKR), Thursday, 15 October 2020 23:51 (five years ago)

what else do the Republicans have except Trump's politics of resentment.

no one actually likes any of their ideas

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Thursday, 15 October 2020 23:53 (five years ago)

and the dueling town halls (?!?!?!?!!!??) are about to start.

i guess i'm outraged on behalf of the shameful ken bones out there, the undecided voters who, for no reason whatsoever, must choose between which broadcast to watch. and like me, i'm guessing they will probably watch trump, because we know what joe biden will say, and we do not know exactly what trump will say, and perhaps trump will have obvious covid-19, or perhaps he will be so 'roided up that he will get angry and call someone a name and lose another 2% off of his republican favorability ratings

president of my cat (Karl Malone), Thursday, 15 October 2020 23:54 (five years ago)

Sasse's scolding style might let him stay in the Senate forever if he votes right but it has no legs beyond that.

Donald Trump Also Sucks, Of Course (milo z), Thursday, 15 October 2020 23:55 (five years ago)

As stated elsewhere, I am firmly in the hated 'Trump is gonna win' category.... but I don't think it's going to happen because of his deification within the party rank-and-file. I think that a combination of paranoid rhetoric, fear-mongering, and soft suppression tactics are going to hand him enough states to help him win. The Rs I know / am related to absolutely abhor him, and are either planning on holding their nose and voting against better judgment or are outright staying home. I mean maybe they're all in that 4% that disapproves of, bu I dunno...

rb (soda), Thursday, 15 October 2020 23:55 (five years ago)

Earlier someone was talking about or tweeted a quote that shy voters and excitement/approval couldn't coexist and I think that's completely wrong. A Trump voter could be fuckin' hyped to vote for him again but not want to get shunned by the libs in his life or have his kids stop talking to him again.

Donald Trump Also Sucks, Of Course (milo z), Thursday, 15 October 2020 23:56 (five years ago)

NBC should be razed to the ground for the shit they're pulling tonight. Is it hyperbolic to call it an affront to democracy?

OrificeMax (Old Lunch), Thursday, 15 October 2020 23:57 (five years ago)

Christie's not (and will never again be) an elected official, though.

Which didn't stop him from being as subservient as could be the past few weeks. He may have given up on being an elected official, but I suspect he still harbors hopes of being an appointed one someday, and will position himself wherever he thinks that might come about.

clemenza, Thursday, 15 October 2020 23:59 (five years ago)

honestly if I don’t get one Covid trophy from that superspreader event in the Rose Garden I’m going to be pretty fucking disappointed

A-B-C. A-Always, B-Be, C-Chooglin (will), Friday, 16 October 2020 00:02 (five years ago)

That means he doesn't have to sell himself to the nest of vipers that we call the GOP base, repudiating Trump is good for your career in the media or lobbying and no one notices the Undersecretary for Chesapeake Bay Affairs if he wants a government job in 2024.

Donald Trump Also Sucks, Of Course (milo z), Friday, 16 October 2020 00:02 (five years ago)

i expect at least ONE person at the town hall to ask him about how his own incompetence, specifically him, led to unnecessary deaths in 6 months. he'll spin it and start talking about how we can't be afraid, but then i want to hear the hapless moderator try to press him on it.

meanwhile, biden will be saying 'lookit', i just can't watch.

trump will dominate the ratings and claim victory (on his terms - get the most attention, he will be correct)

president of my cat (Karl Malone), Friday, 16 October 2020 00:03 (five years ago)

trump just says his lungs were infected, but claims he doesn't know what it was infected with, because he didn't "do too much asking"

seems normal. my lungs are infected? ok

president of my cat (Karl Malone), Friday, 16 October 2020 00:05 (five years ago)

Aerosolized herpes pumped into the Oval Office by the Deep State.

Donald Trump Also Sucks, Of Course (milo z), Friday, 16 October 2020 00:06 (five years ago)

NBC moderator is doing a good job of grilling trump on how ridiculous his handling of his own recent illness was. town hall hasn't even spoken yet. she keeps interrupting him so he can't go on and on. this is good.

president of my cat (Karl Malone), Friday, 16 October 2020 00:06 (five years ago)

why are you watching

Patriotic Goiter (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 16 October 2020 00:08 (five years ago)

to me, watching trump, he seems very obviously and completely wrong and lying, like being caught in a lie, redhanded. but what do i know

president of my cat (Karl Malone), Friday, 16 October 2020 00:09 (five years ago)

you may actually read news about this later, btw - trump looks panicked already and when he gets going, he starts melting down

president of my cat (Karl Malone), Friday, 16 October 2020 00:09 (five years ago)

Would be funny if Biden called in from the other town hall. "OK, we've got Joe, from Delaware on the line with a question ... " And then the other town hall can televise Biden calling Trump.

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 16 October 2020 00:11 (five years ago)

he's already attacking the host/moderator, too

president of my cat (Karl Malone), Friday, 16 October 2020 00:11 (five years ago)

"excess mortality. we're a winner on excess mortality"

president of my cat (Karl Malone), Friday, 16 October 2020 00:11 (five years ago)

why are you watching

president of my cat (Karl Malone), Friday, 16 October 2020 00:13 (five years ago)

"you always do this...you always do this to me..."

president of my cat (Karl Malone), Friday, 16 October 2020 00:14 (five years ago)

"here's the deal"

Everything's Blue In This Whorl (Raymond Cummings), Friday, 16 October 2020 00:14 (five years ago)

"i denounce white supremacy, and frankly, i denounce antifa, i denounce the left " bla bla bla

now getting asked about qanon

president of my cat (Karl Malone), Friday, 16 October 2020 00:15 (five years ago)

More bounce to the denounce.

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 16 October 2020 00:15 (five years ago)

trump knows that qanon is "very much against pedophilia, they fight it very hard"

then pivots to radical left and antifa burning down cities run by democrats

president of my cat (Karl Malone), Friday, 16 October 2020 00:16 (five years ago)

he just doesn't know about qanon

president of my cat (Karl Malone), Friday, 16 October 2020 00:16 (five years ago)

he's really mad at her. he really hates women

president of my cat (Karl Malone), Friday, 16 October 2020 00:16 (five years ago)

there are people in the townhall with masks on visibly shaking their head NO violently, left and right

president of my cat (Karl Malone), Friday, 16 October 2020 00:16 (five years ago)

he just said "so cute" to her

president of my cat (Karl Malone), Friday, 16 October 2020 00:17 (five years ago)

i'll stop.

you'll be reading about this later, for better or worse
