And I can't let this thread roll on without a mere mention of the best ride this year, Flanders last Sunday. The last km was pure poetry.

i'm impressed with alaphillipe's ability to be an impulsive jackass, to be so successful with that model, and yet also still be charismatically likeable.

like, i was glad he lost when he posted up early, but i still felt terrible watching him crash himself outta the ronde. (i am def one of those guys who thinks it was bad luck but on him).

Otm on all of that. I get nervous just seeing him ride, imagine being in a breakaway with him. But yes, very likeable all the same. His crash was def on him.

was v sad at the crash tbh cos 1) I was super hyped to see the headsup fight between him, Wout and VdPoel 2) the TV camera lingering on him rolling around in agony for far too long. was VdPoels turn today, what a sport.

After catching up on the stelvio I’m now watching the peloton opt to do the first 100km of today’s stage by bus.

Yup. Tbf a flat 260km ride in a third week is madness.

Meantime I’ve been watching the Vuelta — steady competition so far, Bennett’s win today was a nice burst right at the end.

Blimey: Hart and Hindley go into tomorrows final stage with the exact same time. We’ve not had that in one of the big three yet.

Will watch the TT in a bit, but what an epic finish. We have an embarrassment of riches in terms of talent to watch for the next few years. I'm now rooting for Enric Mas in the Vuelta so we can merge the GC and young riders classifications in all the grand tours.

Ineos will be wishing this season is over asap.

This didn't age well lol. It's amazing Hart started the first TT just thinking he'd be there to support G (and lost a minute + there), only to win it. With 7 stage wins in the bag for them, and a good Carapaz in the Vuelta.

Vuelta in autumn <3

Funnest climb duel since froome/cobo. roglic pulled, carapaz kept attacking and roglic kept crush-countering. that was increíble. (kuss still durango strong, yip!)

Be sure to catch today's final too. Beast mode Roglic is winning back a lot of hearts of fans I'd say.

After some yes/no/yes/no/yes calculations from the organisation Roglic has the red again, with the same time as Carapaz. That's two blows for Carapaz in two days.

enjoying the Vuelta broadcast and racing a lot more than the TDF this year.

Racing mos def, but Giro and Vuelta usually are more enjoyable, more open races. (broadcast idk: it's always fine - and free - in the low lands :) )
