relevant to Barr, from the casual NYT story just now about how Trump is asking his cabinet to indict his political enemies:

Barr would go down in history “as a very sad, sad situation” if he did not indict Democrats like Mr. Biden and former President Barack Obama. He complained that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had not released Hillary Clinton’s emails, saying, “I’m not happy about him for that reason.” And he targeted Christopher A. Wray, the F.B.I. director. “He’s been disappointing,” Mr. Trump said.

“Unless Bill Barr indicts these people for crimes, the greatest political crime in the history of our country, then we’re going to get little satisfaction unless I win and we’ll just have to go, because I won’t forget it,” Mr. Trump said, referring to the investigation into his 2016 campaign ties with Russia. “But these people should be indicted. This was the greatest political crime in the history of our country, and that includes Obama and it includes Biden.”

Mr. Trump has often argued that his political antagonists should be prosecuted, but in this case, he went further by indicating that he had directly pressured Mr. Barr to indict without waiting for more evidence. “He’s got all the information he needs,” the president said. “They want to get more, more, more, they keep getting more. I said, ‘You don’t need any more.’”

None of that tax stuff is about taking down Donald Trump, president. It's a state-by-state , porperty-by-property tee-up (to use a golf metaphor) on how to take down Donald Trump, post president (assuming he even makes it that far). It would be only fitting if the thing that ends him once and for all is real estate.

xp -- One of my suspicions to begin with was that Trump (by saying he wouldn't do stimulus until after the election) was covering for the fact that the GOP was refusing to do it. Because it didn't strike me as his style -- he doesn't personally care about GOP orthodoxy, he just wants to get elected. I think he thought it was the least bad option to take credit for what was inevitable anyway rather than look powerless. But now he winds up looking powerless anyway. Lol.

He threw a massive hissy fit of the "you all hate me and don't appreciate all the work I've done for you" then promptly started removing features from ILE to prove a point, with the intention of slowly dismantling it until people sent him Buffy DVDs. IIRC Andrew neutered his admin powers after that.
