Patton Oswalt:

Everyone who's tweeting, "I'm bored" -- this is SUPPOSED TO BE BORING. POLITICS SHOULD BE BORING, COMPETENT PEOPLE TAKING CARE OF SHIT SO YOU CAN LIVE YOUR LIFE. IT SHOULDN'T GOBBLE UP ALL THE OXYGEN IN EXISTENCE. The fuck is wrong with everyone?

Blew through the moderator SEVEN TIMES just now.

Pence is lying constantly, not just in general, but about what Harris said literal seconds previous. It remains complete electoral malpractice that this is not corrected by the moderator.

Blew through the moderator three times, has now cut in to Harris and has taken up her entire time, without the moderator saying a word.

Pence continued to roll the moderator btw. Look forward to her givng a post-game interview, like Chris Wallace, saying she didn't expect it so couldn't possibly react.

Got around to looking up who this US Today moderator lady is

can we all just agree this format is spent and move on? (not talking about the US itself...... OR AM I)

why not subject each candidate to a series of three tough interviews with a journalist? you could have one hosted by fox, another hosted by msnbc, and another by pbs.

Unfortunately the last three UK Prime Ministers all ducked out of debates and/or interviews easily and still won.

ffs

circa1916, Thursday, 8 October 2020 12:55 (five years ago)

The full quote is quite something:

President Trump won the first debate despite a terrible and biased moderator in Chris Wallace, and everybody knows it. For the swamp creatures at the Presidential Debate Commission to now rush to Joe Biden’s defense by unilaterally canceling an in-person debate is pathetic. That’s not what debates are about or how they’re done. Here are the facts: President Trump will have posted multiple negative tests prior to the debate, so there is no need for this unilateral declaration. The safety of all involved can easily be achieved without canceling a chance for voters to see both candidates go head to head. We’ll pass on this sad excuse to bail out Joe Biden and do a rally instead.

Democracy isn’t the objective; liberty, peace, and prospefity are. We want the human condition to flourish. Rank democracy can thwart that.
