You said the system needed to be torn down and yet you are voting and actively participating in a system where the loser can win by 3 million votes. It's all v interesting to me.

xyzzzz__, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 15:12 (five years ago)

I live in a fucking swing state, as I've said many times. You can take your interesting POVs to the book and film threads.

Patriotic Goiter (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 7 October 2020 15:13 (five years ago)

xpost Jesus christ, shut up.

Alphie, what would your political strategy be if you were living in Florida? Genuinely curious.

pomenitul, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 15:14 (five years ago)

"The system needs tearing down" and "In this election this Floridian needs to vote for Joe Biden and help others vote for Joe Biden to keep Donald Trump from winning" are not irreconcilable.

Patriotic Goiter (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 7 October 2020 15:14 (five years ago)

^^^

sleeve, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 15:15 (five years ago)

I didn't expect Alfred to say the system needed to be torn down, that's all.

xyzzzz__, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 15:16 (five years ago)

xp to Pom

xyzzzz__, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 15:16 (five years ago)

Alfred, you don't actually have to explain that to anyone who isn't a shit-flinging adolescent hardman.

With respect, don't call me that.

At the minimum we need to abolish the Senate and elect presidents by popular vote. The Senate, even now as a better-dressed version of the House, is doing exactly what the framers intended: thwarting the popular will.

Patriotic Goiter (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 7 October 2020 15:17 (five years ago)

Alphie = comrade alphabet aka xyz.

pomenitul, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 15:17 (five years ago)

Patriotic Goiter (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 7 October 2020 15:18 (five years ago)

Biden's speech was good! Though I guess there's a low bar...

Bidh boladh a' mhairbh de 'n láimh fhalaimh (dowd), Wednesday, 7 October 2020 15:20 (five years ago)

the entire right wing mediasphere treating Biden like a senile old man likely has something to do with that

frogbs, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 15:23 (five years ago)

The person you are voting for hasn't said anything about the electoral college but ok yes the .jpg is funny.

xyzzzz__, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 15:23 (five years ago)

Oh then I guess we should vote for Trump then

Doctor Casino, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 15:24 (five years ago)

No one expects Biden to step into office and single-handedly get rid of the electoral college. It's about consolidating power now so that democratic reforms are possible within the next decade.

jaymc, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 15:25 (five years ago)

If someone's gonna tear down our constitutional system, I want liberal coalitions to do it, not Donald Trump and the Federalist Society.

Patriotic Goiter (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 7 October 2020 15:26 (five years ago)

a "non-electoral politics/praxis" thread might be interesting, maybe, but this ain't really the thread to kickstart that on lol

it bangs for thee (Simon H.), Wednesday, 7 October 2020 15:27 (five years ago)

Again, I was picking on +3 million vote complaint that people made today, 4 years after it happened. I noted that democrats seem to display no interest in changing this then I made a joke based on what Tomboto said to me xps to OL

xyzzzz__, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 15:27 (five years ago)

#onethread

Next topic: have drugs changed how you approach US politics?

xp

pomenitul, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 15:29 (five years ago)

But let's move on, leave you to discussing Trump's tweets and the exciting day's events xp or...that?

xyzzzz__, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 15:31 (five years ago)

a lot of GOP Senate candidates seem to be mentioning "the Dems want to do away with the Electoral College" so they should probably make it happen

Lmao are you familiar with how the uk parliament works?

Sorry, X/Z, but your usual effervescent sense of humor somehow was undetectable this one time.

Erdős-szám 69 (James Redd and the Blecchs), Wednesday, 7 October 2020 15:33 (five years ago)

btw ain't it a little odd we haven't heard anything about Chris Christie?

frogbs, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 15:34 (five years ago)

Lol I am not an advocate for how the UK does things, just happen to live here xps

xyzzzz__, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 15:35 (five years ago)

Also you keep saying the democrats have no interest in changing things but they have already said the literal first law signed by biden with a democratic senate will be HR1 (which is not perfect but you have never heard of it so I don’t know why I’m bothering)

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Wednesday, 7 October 2020 15:36 (five years ago)

so is melania dead or...? has trump mentioned his wife or children at any point since he's been given back his presidential tweetphone?

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Wednesday, 7 October 2020 15:36 (five years ago)

I don't really care, do you?

If it should be the democrat’s priority then I trust you’ll be voting for the Liberal Democrat’s and proportional representation next time then.

#NEW National @Rasmussen_Poll:

Biden 52% (+12)
Trump 40%

— Political Polls (@PpollingNumbers) October 7, 2020

lol

frogbs, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 15:43 (five years ago)

remember this is the pollster famous for predicting a Romney landslide

frogbs, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 15:44 (five years ago)

Ok but you’re still the worst poster on here since gabneb xp

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Wednesday, 7 October 2020 15:44 (five years ago)

Ok but you don't have to throw that desperate vote lib dem jibe, it's the US Pol thread.

xyzzzz__, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 15:46 (five years ago)

Not quite a Romney landslide, if memory serves. Certainly nothing like what we’re seeing now.

xps

pomenitul, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 15:48 (five years ago)

Why seniors have turned to Biden.

Turns out -- no surprise -- that calls to the golden years of Tip 'n' Ronnie having a drink after yelling at each other all day...work with this demographic.

Patriotic Goiter (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 7 October 2020 15:48 (five years ago)

If you claim to think FPTP is the #1 problem in us politics the it’s curious that you’ve literally never mentioned it as an issue on the uk pol threads. Beginning to wonder if you’re posting in good faith. Hmm. Xp

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Wednesday, 7 October 2020 15:49 (five years ago)

The important takeaway from that Rasmussen poll isn't whether or not they're accurate (which I don't think most people believe them to be) but rather that AFAIK their polls tend to heavily favor the GOP. So when you factor that in these results indicate that Trump is likely in for a powerfisting come November.
