when he gets off the helicopter that preposterous little boy across the playground wave
His wave has been getting progressively lower - he seems no longer capable of the typical strong right arm above the head wave that presidents do. I think that's been the case since his late night "routine medical checks" last year.If you were leaving hospital and wanted to project strength and vigour you wouldn't do a sneaky low thumbs up or wave at waist level.

"there is no way the ceremonial trappings of the presidency will ever regain any kind of seriousness again after this"
Don't worry. Uncle Joe will restore presidential ceremony and pomp by bombing a wedding in Pakistan.

Barron Trump still sad he hasn't got the rona, as he'd hope it would prove he has any sort of relationship with his dad ;_;

Flu season is coming up! Many people every year, sometimes over 100,000, and despite the Vaccine, die from the Flu. Are we going to close down our Country? No, we have learned to live with it, just like we are learning to live with Covid, in most populations far less lethal!!!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 6, 2020
― frogbs, Tuesday, 6 October 2020 13:25 (five years ago)
Hysterical coming from a guy who was airlifted to hospital while millions rode this out at home.

Learn to Live With It is like his ultimate campaign motto.

Learn to live with it by having a massive team of physicians who will give you every treatment possible, for free.
― while my keytar gently bleeps (Ye Mad Puffin), Tuesday, 6 October 2020 13:32 (five years ago)
He's not really wrong on that though, is he? We are going to have to learn to live with strains of covid being endemic in the population, vaccine or no vaccine?
― Alba, Tuesday, 6 October 2020 13:33 (five years ago)
...therefore nothing must be done to prevent its spread?
― pomenitul, Tuesday, 6 October 2020 13:36 (five years ago)
No he's totally right about that. And there are only a small handful of proven tactics for doing that i.e........ WEARING MASKS
― Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 6 October 2020 13:36 (five years ago)
Yes, he's setting up a straw man because I don't think anyone is calling for shutdown now. My idea of learning to live with it is very different to his.
― Alba, Tuesday, 6 October 2020 13:39 (five years ago)
Sadly so. Pretty much every plague in history ended that way. Eventually, pretty much everybody either died from it, had it and got better, or was immune. (I know, thanks Dr. Obvious.)
As every sane person has already said, though, that doesn't mean "don't take precautions."
― while my keytar gently bleeps (Ye Mad Puffin), Tuesday, 6 October 2020 13:43 (five years ago)
But, of course, that's not what he means, and that's not what his followers (i.e. not sane people) will hear.

Anytime you're thinking "What this historical event needs is to be placed in the context of fucking Star Wars," think again. Or slam your head in a car door until you're no longer capable of thought at all.

Every time someone mentions Star Wars, I think about Leia making out with Luke to make Han jealous and start giggling
― shout-out to his family (DJP), Tuesday, 6 October 2020 14:17 (five years ago)
"Learning to live with the virus" is little more than a platitude right now without a credible action plan.
― Matt DC, Tuesday, 6 October 2020 14:35 (five years ago)
I can't stand star wars, just enjoyed someone making fun of his wheezing, but if unperson thinks that's enough to tell me to "slam your head in a car door until you're no longer capable of thought at all." then guess I will say bye.

You can't blame that person though, really. They see Trump and wants to hug him for all the wonderful things Trump has done for the military - who can resist the allure of getting COVID-close to the most amazing President ever

what if covid-19 ends up taking out a significant chunk of elderly GOP leadership, across the nation, while not affecting elderly Democratic leaders as much (state, local, national)?
