A few years ago I had a herniated disc in my neck and got a steroid injection about 10am. As the day wore on I felt a tremendous rush of energy and by 6pm after one beer I just about thought I could fly. I got about 2 hours of sleep that night because I could not relax even one bit.

Is it just me or are we slowly but surely slipping back into the usual hellscape timeline?

If Trump's got even a moderate case of COVID-19 (and if it wasn't serious he wouldn't have stopped tweeting), his campaigning is finished. Early voting numbers are insanely high as well... the GOP has very little time to turn things around. Headlines like "Secret Service Agents Denounce Trump's Parade" is not that.

I think of the times when I've had a nasty flu and decided a week later that I was OK and ready to resume normal life, only to have my triumphant return to social life end around 7:30pm after experiencing a hard fadeout, and someone having to drive me home from the restaurant, arrange me on the couch, and turn the TV on for me as I insist I'm fine and then pass out.

same, f. hazel. last time i got the flu i decided to go to work too soon and was getting out of breath walking around. and i'm not an obese 74 year old. i'm heartened the thought that by engaging in too much activity he's just making himself sicker.

There are all different kinds of steroids. I've been on dexamethasone, but I've had cancer and back surgery.

Looking forward to the week or so he'll spend crashing off dexamethasone (if his case is truly moderate). If his hypomania on it is any indication, he'll be due for some depression and suicidal ideation. Fingers crossed, at any rate.

This is making me lol as I've had so many negotiations with stroppy kids like " ok you can have one more go on the car then it's straight to bed!"

Not sure if anyone feels the same but this whole situation is so charged with extreme wishful thinking from both sides of the spectrum that I really feel averse to speculating based on any degree of hearsay flying around from any source.

Well it's just making all the freeze-frame-narrative storytelling more popular than ever before.

Fifty years from now, I have no doubt that historians will tout The Secret as the most important political science treatise of our time.

I think it's safe to assume -- at the very least -- it's somewhat worse than the administration is trying to portray, just given their inability not to lie about absolutely fucking everything

but that range could be mildly worse to drastically worse and who knows?

"worse, maybe not too much worse, maybe a lot worse" is a reassuring place to be though. wonder when he'll crash from the steroids. wonder when it will come back like a hurricane. feeling optimistic.
