An essential element of any proper hellscape is occasionally providing the hellscape-bound just enough hope to hang themselves with.
― OrificeMax (Old Lunch), Monday, 5 October 2020 13:45 (five years ago)
This is why I’ve always taken issue with Dante’s ‘abandon all hope, etc.’ The utterly hopeless are not in Hell, or at least not in its lower circles.
― pomenitul, Monday, 5 October 2020 13:50 (five years ago)
already feeling nostalgic for the rush of finding out he first got covid tbh
― the typo doer (Simon H.), Monday, 5 October 2020 13:50 (five years ago)
ok the fact that Trump and Trump alone is trying to rush himself to the WH is probably not great for his prognosis
― frogbs, Monday, 5 October 2020 13:54 (five years ago)
I should stop reading this thread, I don’t want to be disappointed. :(

A few years ago I had a herniated disc in my neck and got a steroid injection about 10am. As the day wore on I felt a tremendous rush of energy and by 6pm after one beer I just about thought I could fly. I got about 2 hours of sleep that night because I could not relax even one bit.
― Quiet Storm Thorgerson (PBKR), Monday, 5 October 2020 14:03 (five years ago)
Is it just me or are we slowly but surely slipping back into the usual hellscape timeline?
If Trump's got even a moderate case of COVID-19 (and if it wasn't serious he wouldn't have stopped tweeting), his campaigning is finished. Early voting numbers are insanely high as well... the GOP has very little time to turn things around. Headlines like "Secret Service Agents Denounce Trump's Parade" is not that.

like the dead guy who won in Missouri
Here’s some KIP from that piece
Mr. Trump’s camera-friendly, morale-boosting “surprise visit,” however, may have masked the reality of his condition, and his seeming energy may have reflected the fact that he was given the steroid dexamethasone, according to medical experts. Dexamethasone has been shown to help patients who are severely ill with Covid-19, but it is typically not used in mild or moderate cases of the disease.

It does seem like the President is singlehandedly trying to rush himself out of the hospital and will probably get his wish only to have to be rushed back later this week

A notoriously corrupt Romanian mayor who died of Covid recently got re-elected postmortem. I keep thinking about him and his ghost.

Trump’s tweet habit had been mostly quiet since he got coronavirus, with just retweets and thanks to well-wishers. Today, @realDonaldTrump is on a spree, on guns, stock market, military taxes, voting.Reason: @Scavino45 tested negative and is now up at Walter Reed with him. pic.twitter.com/H0n23Z5kkM— Jennifer Jacobs (@JenniferJJacobs) October 5, 2020

I think of the times when I've had a nasty flu and decided a week later that I was OK and ready to resume normal life, only to have my triumphant return to social life end around 7:30pm after experiencing a hard fadeout, and someone having to drive me home from the restaurant, arrange me on the couch, and turn the TV on for me as I insist I'm fine and then pass out.
― avellano medio inglés (f. hazel), Monday, 5 October 2020 14:21 (five years ago)
so scavino45 is giving himself another chance to get it? why are these people so dumb

same, f. hazel. last time i got the flu i decided to go to work too soon and was getting out of breath walking around. and i'm not an obese 74 year old. i'm heartened the thought that by engaging in too much activity he's just making himself sicker.

I saw people quoting those Trump tweets and the first thing that popped into my head was "The Knowledge" by Janet

― lag∞n, Monday, 5 October 2020 14:27 (five years ago)
which is not to say he wont discharge himself lol
sad lol but Trump is like the inverse of that Janet song. Prejudice, yes! Ignorance, yes! Bigotry, yes!

There are all different kinds of steroids. I've been on dexamethasone, but I've had cancer and back surgery.

― frogbs, Monday, 5 October 2020 14:41 (five years ago)
trying to predict what I'll be doing and how I hear about it when he croaks; it's a diverting passtime.
― kinder, Monday, 5 October 2020 14:50 (five years ago)
Looking forward to the week or so he'll spend crashing off dexamethasone (if his case is truly moderate). If his hypomania on it is any indication, he'll be due for some depression and suicidal ideation. Fingers crossed, at any rate.
