trump's gonna end up fine isn't he. he could end up as a fucking brain in a jar of formaldehyde and still go grift and crime into his next stolen term.

*_*

ok i'm better now, sorry.

surely Mitch McConnell should get with the programme grandad.
I mean to be a loyal -party member shouldn't he be courting the vid?

Stevolende, Sunday, 4 October 2020 08:30 (five years ago)

McConnell is a Republican, not a Trumpian.

he also unfortunately is a regular mask-wearer, who’s repeatedly urged people to wear them. he’s a horrible heartless ghoul, but he’s not a covidiot

McConnell knows that Trump is a repugnant idiot, and most likely holds him in utter contempt. McConnell has never taken his eyes off the prize of using Trump"s gift for public chaos and negative interest in governance to advance his own previous-gen Republican mission of stacking the courts.

erratic wolf angular guitarist (sic), Sunday, 4 October 2020 12:32 (five years ago)

He's way less interested in governance than Trump is!

error prone wolf syndicate (Hadrian VIII), Sunday, 4 October 2020 12:36 (five years ago)

an overstatement—they come at their equal disdain for gov't from different places

shame really since he's helped so many of the population feel like dirt and not helped control the virus for so many people. You'd think he must need to share the experience himself.
& otherwise how is he going to share the feeling of extreme pain and desperation he's inflicting on others.

It's really refreshing to see ballots rolling in without his airhorn blare accusations of fraud shitting up the feed.

Fetchboy, Sunday, 4 October 2020 15:19 (five years ago)

Got my mail in ballot yesterday, will be taking it with me to vote in person this week. Voting without getting my "I voted" sticker is just not voting at all.

Josh in Chicago, Sunday, 4 October 2020 15:23 (five years ago)

Excuse my ignorance, are “no major party” voters for small parties or voters not registered to either major party?

seumas milm (gyac), Sunday, 4 October 2020 15:26 (five years ago)

I found that strange as well, because as we all know, Florida *is* a major party state, dude, and no poll is going to tell me otherwise.

Josh in Chicago, Sunday, 4 October 2020 15:27 (five years ago)

I interpret that as registered independents and third party registrants all lumped together

sound of scampo talk to me (El Tomboto), Sunday, 4 October 2020 15:32 (five years ago)

I just moved & registered to vote in Florida at the DMV. I told them "Independent", and it looks like I'm now registered with the "Independent" party: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Independent_Party_of_Florida

Pataphysician, Sunday, 4 October 2020 15:46 (five years ago)

put my ballot in the mail today! felt good

also, i clicked an article with the headline As virus spreads across GOP ranks, some Republicans say party will pay price for ‘stupid’ approach hoping for some schadenfreude, but all i got was this:

Pence’s debate is seen by some Republicans as an opening to both boost Trump with skittish voters and refresh the party’s message on the pandemic since Pence has led the coronavirus task force.

“All he has to do is be kind and pleasant, to be reassuring and competent,” said former House speaker Newt Gingrich (R).

let us all meditate on trump's ability to be these five things: kind. pleasant. reassuring. competent. and how that's all he has to do.

idkwtf (Karl Malone), Sunday, 4 October 2020 15:50 (five years ago)

No major party = everything other than R and D, including independents, minor parties, and no party affiliation.

Quiet Storm Thorgerson (PBKR), Sunday, 4 October 2020 15:52 (five years ago)

I believe ol' Newt is talking about Pence there, not Trump.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 4 October 2020 15:52 (five years ago)

The lying from the White House on Friday and from Conley yesterday about the president's condition is staggering.

So dexamethasone was found to be beneficial ONLY in patients on a ventilator OR on oxygen.

NOT on patients who don't need oxygen.

There was even the possibility of harm in that patient population.

— Craig Spencer MD MPH (@Craig_A_Spencer) October 4, 2020

This is the drug they just revealed that he’s on. So either he’s sick or they’re killing him.

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Sunday, 4 October 2020 16:08 (five years ago)

lol, seriously

it is staggering, though. it couldn't be a better october surprise, really - in my mind the major scandal is all the people he (and his inner circle, i assume) knowingly exposed. you'd think they'll be spending 99% of their effort this month trying to prevent negligent manslaughter lawsuits

idkwtf (Karl Malone), Sunday, 4 October 2020 16:08 (five years ago)

So either he’s sick or they’re killing him.

let's not either/or this

let's both/and this

idkwtf (Karl Malone), Sunday, 4 October 2020 16:09 (five years ago)

Trump is going to have the world's best ghost costume this Halloween.

Josh in Chicago, Sunday, 4 October 2020 16:10 (five years ago)

very convincing.

Josh in Chicago, Sunday, 4 October 2020 16:10 (five years ago)

Lmao

There’s a long history of White Houses lying about the president’s health — JFK, FDR, etc. The distinction here is the incompetence.

— Jonathan Swan (@jonathanvswan) October 4, 2020

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Sunday, 4 October 2020 16:11 (five years ago)

People have been lying about JFK's health for decades.

Josh in Chicago, Sunday, 4 October 2020 16:11 (five years ago)

for the record, he didn't make it.

Josh in Chicago, Sunday, 4 October 2020 16:13 (five years ago)

So they’re saying he’s gonna be discharged tomorrow? Lmao okay

frogbs, Sunday, 4 October 2020 16:16 (five years ago)

yeah, here's what's coming out of this announcement, in the first wave of coverage:

President Trump has “improved,” according to White House physician Sean Conley, but experienced significant oxygen drops on Friday and on Saturday. His doctors said he has had no fever since Friday morning, and could be discharged as early as tomorrow.

The doctor declined to answer questions about the president’s lungs, including whether there is scarring or if the President has pneumonia.

idkwtf (Karl Malone), Sunday, 4 October 2020 16:17 (five years ago)

ok dr nick riviera

idkwtf (Karl Malone), Sunday, 4 October 2020 16:17 (five years ago)

i am, honestly, truly surprised that dr phil and dr oz are not on this team

idkwtf (Karl Malone), Sunday, 4 October 2020 16:18 (five years ago)

Dishcharged to the whitehouse is not exactly discharged from hospital. It’s like being moved to a different hospital!

OrificeMax (Old Lunch), Sunday, 4 October 2020 16:30 (five years ago)

Is it not very well known that people with Covid get better and worse on a daily basis and that based on the timetable the worst days are almost certainly gonna be coming up this week

frogbs, Sunday, 4 October 2020 16:33 (five years ago)

in other words, yes, they should send him home.

Josh in Chicago, Sunday, 4 October 2020 16:35 (five years ago)

yeah it would be pretty sweet to see him slink back into Walter Reed in a day or two

sleeve, Sunday, 4 October 2020 16:36 (five years ago)

Jokes aside, can anyone tell me what Dr Conley was trying to say with "I didn't want to give any information that might steer the illness in another direction"? I genuinely don't understand what it means. Some kind of positive thinking mantra?
