I just had a flash of what it would look like for Trump to die while in office: the lying in state in the Capitol Rotunda, the Marine honor guard (none wearing masks, ofc), the horse-drawn caisson, all the solemn twaddle from media talking heads about a nation in shock and deep mourning.

The ritual pomp and dishonest eulogizing will be next to unendurable, but at least there would be other compensations.

heard a radio interview with the head of Mayo Clinic laboratories, kind of a bummer.

so basically he says (totally paraphrasing here based on hearing this in the car so could have details off) that the experimental treatment, basically taking plasma from people who have had it and injecting it) is pretty promising, they've administered to about 250 ppl

no negative effects so far, is based on immunotherapy they do for cancer....got the gist he thinks it's on its way to getting approved

also said that they have been finding that early intervention is reducing mortality across the board

wouldn't speculate why he went to hospital but did suggest it might be an abundance of caution if he were the one in charge

like you can't fucking write a better ending than this. dude is getting his ass stomped in the polls to Joe fucking Biden, then RBG dies, so they decide to go for one last power grab before they get wiped out, and when they introduce their nominee they wind up running a superspreader event which winds up getting half the GOP sick with Covid-19 (the virus whose failure to do a damn thing about will be Trump's lasting legacy), not only tanking the Supreme Court nomination but also leaving Trump incapacitated, flying out to the hospital and having his last communication to the world being "Doing Wel1, Thank you!!!" on Twitter

1) He's a guy who even out of office can cause so much disruption. Finance a buyout of OANN (etc.), pushing self-serving conspiracy theories and authoritarian politics for years to come.

2) The anti-masker anti-public health element would take a full recovery as confirmation of their views, continue perpetuating this epidemic, and tens of thousands more would die unnecessarily.

An ideal outcome for the nation's future may be that Trump recovers, but is left in a perilous state, for example, requiring a lung transplant. Just cogent enough to witness his world crumble around him, but attached to an oxygen machine indefinitely, and no longer able to cause more harm. Think Cheney on his heart pump.
