Anyway, doesn't seem that strange to me that he would go to the hospital. If he's getting some sort of blood treatment, experimental or no, they probably don't want to administer that in his bedroom. That seems more like Rudy's jam.

he's already had the experimental treatment. it's an injection. it's not a plasma thing.

Phases refer to clinical research in general, not just vaccines as far as I know.

yes but regeneron is not in phase 3! https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-09-29/regeneron-antibody-cocktail-lowers-virus-in-covid-19-patients. the trial was 275 people.

it’s all about Day 10. anybody got a back of the envelope estimate of when that is?

xpost If he's already had the injection then I imagine they did what they did with Boris, get him closer to the ICU just in case.

WASHINGTON (AP) — White House: Trump to travel to military hospital after COVID-19 diagnosis, remain for 'few days' on advice of doctors.

“Out of an abundance of caution, and at the recommendation of his physician and medical experts, the president will be working from the presidential offices at Walter Reed for the next few days,” Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany says in a statement.

ah, well further along than i realised, but whatever they reported earlier this week was not phase 3, and phase 3 is not finished. my understanding is that phase 3 is when you find out if its safe btw. you already know it works when it reaches that stage.

I keep wondering if China or Russia during some of this mess the past few months might take a shot at something figuring the US is too much of a basket-case really do do anything about it. I would think if they wanted to by force say take back Tiawan or make a big push in Hong Kong or something in Ukraine, what would happen? Probably too much risk but...

earlnash, Friday, 2 October 2020 21:25 (five years ago)

my point is: it's possible (and would not be particularly surprising, given his general health and what they've said publicly about his treatment and their track record of massively underplaying the seriousness of anything covid related) that he's already quite ill.

Trump has had a long distaste for hospitals, and a distrust of medical treatments. Some of his closest allies note Trump wouldn’t allow himself to be hospitalized unless he absolutely had to.

It would be funny to get Trump locked up into a Hyperbaric tank and then switch the TV to just The View on endless loop.

My wife just stumped me with this question: when was the last time a sitting president spent multiple days (or even an overnight stay) in the hospital (at least that they public was made aware of).

I guessed Reagan but I'm not sure about the Bushes...

I’d guess it was when Bush sr got food poisoning in Japan.

I guess Clinton didn't stay in the hospital long when he fell and hurt his leg. The only reason (or maybe anyone) remembers that is because he had a Lewinsky liaison right after.

If this is somehow fake news, then the 5D chess here is that this “miracle vaccine” will resurrect him in 2 weeks’ time and he will reenter the race having defeated Covid and promising his followers that magic cure he’s been barfing about just in time for Election Day. The reality tho is that he likely had it first, gave it to everyone else and even came to the debate as The Orange Superspreader.

I looked at news reports of the GHWB vomiting incident. Doesn't seem like he was hospitalized for it. But he was hospitalized for at least a couple of days in May 1991 for an irregular heartbeat, which was diagnosed at Graves' disease.

Reagan had several operations at Walter Reed during which he stayed overnight: a polyp removal in 1985, prostate surgery in 1987, and hand surgery in 1989.
