even after she lost her senate race, months afterward, i remember listening to her on a podcast talking about it, saying that the lesson was that obama and the 2016 clinton campaign should have focused more on the concerns of white people (she put it a little bit differently, admittedly)

Manchin's not up for re-election this year and he'll be 75 in 2022. Maybe he'll finally grow a spine.

Donald Trump Also Sucks, Of Course (milo z), Saturday, 19 September 2020 02:31 (five years ago)

Moscow Mitch would have you believe he's following some kind of hallowed, sacrosanct code of Justice nominations rather that just making this shit up on the fly.
Completely arbitrary, like when you get to make a new rule while playing Quarters.

Andy the Grasshopper, Saturday, 19 September 2020 02:35 (five years ago)

I honestly don't know why he even bothered with some mealy-mouth justification for the shit everyone knew he'd pull. His aims and intentions are completely transparent to people across the political spectrum.

"...I will not be replaced until a new president is installed."

I like that she even accounted for Trump winning this time.

NEWS: Democratic donors shattered ActBlue's all-time record for donations in an hour after Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg died.

Democrats gave $6.2 million in the 9 pm hour.

Then they broke the record again in 10 pm hour.

More than $100,000 per minute.https://t.co/NeNG52PUnY

RIP to the more than 30 million innocent babies that have been murdered during the decades that Ruth Bader Ginsburg defended pro-abortion laws. With @realDonaldTrump nominating a replacement that values human life, generations of unborn children have a chance to live.

Gotta fill those prisons somehow, and unwanted babies are a great place to start.

Why abort them now when you can execute them later amirite, give it up my GOP bros

but how are we going to execute them later by preventing abortions if we're forcing hysterectomies?

this is hard

error prone wolf syndicate (Hadrian VIII), Saturday, 19 September 2020 14:21 (five years ago)

Abortions performed in America reached their peak under Reagan’s watch, but these idiots refuse to understand why that happened

beamish13, Saturday, 19 September 2020 14:24 (five years ago)

The stupid thing about Doug Collins's post is that SCOTUS overturning Roe v Wade doesn't just make it illegal nationwide.

origami condom (Neanderthal), Saturday, 19 September 2020 14:24 (five years ago)

It’s astonishing how abortion is still THE wedge issue in America. The UK, France, the Netherlands, Canada, etc. all got the fuck over it

beamish13, Saturday, 19 September 2020 14:35 (five years ago)

Perhaps theres another thread you could pretend to me confused on?

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Saturday, 19 September 2020 14:51 (five years ago)

Not confused. I understand the country’s puritanical roots, but it’s just pathetic how people can’t accept the reality of abortion

Is your schtick "shame y'all didn't wise up and move to Canada, also here are some fairly obvious things that I for some reason think you don't know. Also do you mind if I shit in the open coffin?"

origami condom (Neanderthal), Saturday, 19 September 2020 15:15 (five years ago)

Trust me, I think many of us would move to Canada if we could. I certainly would, I have more friends in the Vancouver metro than I do in the city where I live

healthy cocaine off perfect butts (the table is the table), Saturday, 19 September 2020 15:27 (five years ago)

I am stuck in the US at least one more year because I'm moving into a two bedroom with my folks to help care for my father.

After that, idk if i wanna be here even if Biden is President. I can afford to leave. Rn nowhere i wanna go would be likely to let me in lol

origami condom (Neanderthal), Saturday, 19 September 2020 15:30 (five years ago)

we seriously thought about Canada 4 years ago and were considering if Trump wins re-election (and maybe we still will) but since I live inn California I honestly think it's better to just never move from here. Unless CA starts shifting hard right, which is unlikely in my lifetime.

akm, Saturday, 19 September 2020 15:34 (five years ago)

I would have a hard time leaving my friends. I have a ton of 15 year friendships here that I'd have a hard time moving to virtual only.

origami condom (Neanderthal), Saturday, 19 September 2020 15:37 (five years ago)

I think unless you are in a demographic that stands to suffer greatly under a new trump administration (ie: you are trans, etc) and can afford to leave, it behooves you to stay in the US and do whatever necessary to make life workable for those who will suffer but cannot leave.

akm, Saturday, 19 September 2020 15:41 (five years ago)

This right response to this is to DC and PR statehood.

Stephen Harper made it unbelievably difficult to immigrate to Canada. I hope you’re conversationally fluent in English AND French; that’s the way to get your Express Entry points up

beamish13, Saturday, 19 September 2020 17:10 (five years ago)

And fwiw biden is on the record as being opposed to court packing so if you’re hoping for that you’re going to be disappointed.

I don’t think he’s on the record re PR but he supports DC statehood.

easy to flip-flop if he’s in office. ya don’t have to run on court packing, you just have to do it

also he was against court packing with RBG still alive and on the court, this is a different situation

origami condom (Neanderthal), Saturday, 19 September 2020 17:26 (five years ago)

Well like I say court packing is a bad idea unless you add a couple of states too. So I hope he doesn’t change his mind tbh until that’s done.

the thing is, you DO have to run on court packing! that's the thing about making it clear, this very day, that if the GOP installs yet another corrupt SC pick, the democrats WILL add seats to the SC in 2021. run on it, as a campaign promise. make it clear to everyone that it's the plan. then win the election, and do it, with something that trump (and bush 2000) never had: a "mandate" from the american people to do something.

flip-flopping on it in the new term will not work.

Karl Malone, Saturday, 19 September 2020 17:36 (five years ago)

The Republicans already added a 51st state (Siege)

WATCH THIS SPACE: @MULawPoll finds majority of Democrats (61%) favor or strongly favor adding more justices to Supreme Court. 34% of Republicans favored or strongly favored adding more justices. @JoeBiden is expected to face pressure from liberal groups to commit to doing so. pic.twitter.com/F1kcO5Fg4S

I want a better space to watch - that poll question is ambiguous. Do I favor packing the court? Right now, if trump does it? Or in the hypothetical future where Biden wins? Or just as a general stance?

Karl Malone, Saturday, 19 September 2020 17:43 (five years ago)

That might be why 34% of republicans expressed support for adding more justices, which would almost certainly be a bad thing for them (they already have a majority)

Karl Malone, Saturday, 19 September 2020 17:44 (five years ago)

TikTok to the (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Saturday, 19 September 2020 17:46 (five years ago)

Nah they just saw the word "packing" and instinctually threw their support at it

origami condom (Neanderthal), Saturday, 19 September 2020 17:46 (five years ago)

Like the classic Obamacare poll: do I support it? You mean, do I support it as opposed to an actual universal coverage program? No of course not. Do I support it compared to the status quo? Of course I do. So, uhh

“Poll finds tepid support for Obamacare among democratic voters”

Karl Malone, Saturday, 19 September 2020 17:46 (five years ago)

Polls should be done in essay form IMO
