yes, not to "both sides" it but in this case it's true. far right people actually believe there's a vote by mail scandal/conspiracy, so they want to vote in person. and i'd guess some people on the left want to vote in person so that we'll have a better chance to beat trump on election night, rather than going through the hell of watching trump "win" on election night and then lose 3 to 90 days later, when the vote by mail ballots are counted and most of the lawsuits are starting to wrap up

also, trump is still _actively trying_ to make USPS as ineffective as possible. there's still another month and a half.

don't get me wrong, i am itching to vote by mail, as soon as my ballot arrives. but i wouldn't blame people for wanting to vote in person as soon as they can, for the same reason, just to lock it in

obviously not getting my hopes up but it wouldn't exactly surprise me if Trump loses in a landslide due to bigger-than-expected turnout in every state. turnout has been high in every election since 2016 and I think the "X factor" in this election when it comes to undecided/people who don't normally vote is just how fucking sick people are of Donald Trump right now.

However, AFAIK the major voter suppression tactics don't happen at anywhere near the US scale in Canada, but we haven't had a national election manage over 70% turnout since, apparently, 1988, and now tends to hover around 65%. So I suspect generalized alienation is also in the air in a major way.

If you're standing in line to vote, not working or campaigning (handing out Trump literature, etc.), wearing a MAGA hat would be fine.

In my experience, at least once you are in the polling room, you have to remove any campaign apparel before you get your ballot/voting machine password. So, the theoretical chud head to toe in MAGA swag would be up shit creek.

I think more Biden voters will early vote more than the polling indicates or pundits think rather than vote by mail-- they've heard enough post office nightmare stories and they want him out. I requested an absentee ballot but will drop it in a Dropbox rather than trust the mail. BTW Virginia is great for early voting it's like 6 weeks. Maryland gets a piddling week of early voting.

NJ will be sending out ballots sometime in the next two weeks, I believe. I'll be dropping mine in a box the day I get it.

Vote by mail is less accessible in Texas, but either way I'd probably be planning to vote in person.
