Joe's Crab Shack is much worse and they make their employees do a stupid dance every hour. Every restaurant that forces people to dance or sing should be shut down.

I worry about cold stone employees’ hands.
― brimstead, Wednesday, 16 September 2020 03:19 (four years ago) link
Joe's Crab Shack is SHIT. fucking that dance shit was annoying, the meals were never filling (or great), the atmosphere was crap. I remember going there in my early 20s for my birthday with friends and for whatever dumb reason, my friends tried to get the waitstaff to sing the birthday song to me (which I hate and tell them not to do). thirty awkward minutes passed because they were so busy, they couldn't find enough "birthday singers" and kept coming by to apologize.
cos we were chatting and having an ok time I didn't mind at first but I started to get annoyed that I didn't want the song anyway but I didn't want to shit on my friends' good intentions, but also I was mad because everything was made more awkward that it was getting drawn out to be this stupid monumental thing rather than just getting it the fuck over with and leaving.
so finally I got aggravated and said "yo let's go to my house and drink". never hung out with any of those friends again, and the Crab Shack burnt down.

My first serving job was at a Pappadeaux where they'd send you home if your shirt or apron wasn't properly dry-cleaned and pressed with heavy starch and everyone I worked with still has waitmares about that place but we still felt lucky compared to the neighboring Joe's Crab Shack where they had to dance like trained monkeys. (Also we made twice as much money on a given night.)
― Donald Trump Also Sucks, Of Course (milo z), Wednesday, 16 September 2020 03:32 (four years ago) link
lol I showed up to my waiter job half the time with a soiled shirt, but I worked at a dump. never woulda survived at Pappadeaux's.
the dancing at Joe's was just what you'd expect - people moving awkwardly while squinting as if to say "ok this is good enough, right? Nobody I know sees me?"

Red Lobster has struggled with a significant debt load, unfavorable lease terms, executive turnover and ill-advised strategies including an all-you-can-eat-shrimp promotion last fall that resulted in a significant loss for the company.
― omar little, Wednesday, 15 May 2024 00:29 (five months ago) link
my friend used to go to the all you can eat shrimp promotion all the time and she'd order several plates worth and she'd save a few of each plate by putting them in a box, never had a problem with it. and then one day went to a different location and got told that she could only be given a box if she was done with her meal, not in advance to scoop some shrimp to save.
she said the waitress said they had an internal meeting about it and they all agreed this practice was an example of "shrimp hoarding". the friend ordered another plate of shrimp, and as she walked away, the waitress muttered "shrimp hoarder" under her breath.

The Lobster was my dad's fancy birthday dinner meal of choice, I liked the tiny baked potatoes. Every other restaurant tries to fill you up with a 1 pound tater so they can save on the meat, not Red Lobster. You're getting a gallon of garlic butter delivered via frozen seafood alongside a 4 oz potato.
