lol i bought that Meades book for my brother, i haven't read it

I was strapped for time today because of cutting my hedges earlier so just sauteed some onions/garlic/celery/beef strips, added some stout/beef stock/tom puree/vegetables/green bell peppers/oregano/spring greens/chick peas and incinerated it in the pressure chamber and viola ..very reasonable stew done in 30-40 minutes.

today is exclusively soup for me. my mum just dropped by with some vermicelli in vegetable stock and insisted I have it. so I'm having it. it feels very medicinal

medicinal? you are actually eating the soup and not draping the vermicelli over your forehead and other limbs?

In the first days of the pandemic my wife ordered about 300 n95 masks from China, these cost a fair amount of money. The idea was to give a handful to every old relative / friend we could think of, keep a few for ourselves, then donate the rest to the NHS. Well the NHS trust didn't want them, said they didn't know the brand (!), so we tried to sell them online, but sites like gumtree don't let you sell them, they just delete the listing. So on Sunday I got up at 5.15 to drive to the local car boot sale and see if I could sell them there. Not only did nobody buy a single mask, I had a stream of punters and stallholders walking past me, making fun of me, insulting me, some were anti-maskers, some thought I didn't have a "proper stall", some said they could get three masks for £2 at Wilko, it was a miserable morning and I hate everyone at the car boot sale. So I don't know, we shouldn't have ordered them, it was a stupid idea I suppose, nobody's fault but our own.

Would legit be interesting in buying some(provided you test -ve lol)

I would call them /g/ and /dʒ/ but "g sound" and "j sound" work much better than "hard g" / "soft g" for people who don't use the phonetic alphabet, mainly because the latter sounds just as hard as the former.

I agree with that! Also when you say "hard g" out loud you're using a soft g, which doesn't help

André Rieu p much the strongest case against using the soft G tbf. That video is otm about the regional differences though.

Chuchichäschtli is the only Swiss word I ever learned. It's a treat to pronounce it.

There wasn’t really one thing...as DC said above he was just relentlessly insistently provoking ppl in the politics threads from a place of ignorance and making claims to a superior knowledge of u.s. politics. It might as well have been trolling.
