How can you debate with a man not remotely on top of his brief? ‘He didn't read the protocol, he hasn't read the bill, he doesn't know his stance.’ pic.twitter.com/WUt4XUhIBe— Tim Walker (@ThatTimWalker) September 14, 2020

I've never seen that before - an MP 'giving way' to prompt someone else to say something, when they have nothing to say.
It does make BJ look peculiarly ignorant (of his own policy) as well as foul and disgusting.
Unlike others here (and elsewhere), I have always liked Ed Miliband a lot.

A gobsmacked Boris Johnson getting his arse handed to him by Ed Miliband is one of the best things I've seen for months. 😄 pic.twitter.com/triNXKNovM— JackJazz (@JayJay08752584) September 14, 2020

Nice bit of political theatre sure, would perhaps be cheering louder if he hadn't given that interview asking everyone to grass on their neighbours the same fucking day.

yes yes he is a cop etc, but you can't deny a) a bodying and b) 'the narrative'

he should have said he'd give the partying neighbours a warning and then call the cops if they did it again, reckon that answer would have pleased most. or idk he could have shown some moral backbone and told the interviewer to fuck off and that all cops are bastards, would have played p well I reckon

A truly amazing achievement, but I remember austerity lite, the controls on immigration coffee cup, the Edstone. He was absolute turd as a leader.

I am terribly torn on Ed Mili always (v Gemini, that) because on the one hand he was weak as shit as a leader and controls on immigration/cop shit/all the stuff we went through in 2015 and on the other, when he’s being himself and hammering right he’s very good at it. Also, he beat his cunt of a brotherand people who do scathing well are automatically 100000% more attractive to me.Alphie, I beg you, I’ve tapped the damn sign so much I’ve worn holes in it.

What are you are supposed to be non judgemental about bad politicians and their shitty legacies, imago? You might be but I'm not that easily impressed by them and it'll take more than some pantomime gotcha clip in parliament to impress me pal!
― calzino, Monday, 14 September 2020 18:14 (four years ago) link
Just remembered the Sunday Times poll in 2015 that asked whether Ed Miliband ‘looked prime ministerial’, which was not a dogwhistle to such an extend that they had to rouse Danny Finkelstein from beneath his ermine bedspread to explain exactly how much of a dogwhistle it wasn’t.— Elvis Buñuelo (@Mr_Considerate) September 14, 2020

Also also, Boris still looks awful, which is why I entirely believe the rumour about him parachuting out early next year.
― scampo italiano (gyac), Monday, 14 September 2020 18:18 (four years ago) link
When Ed did that Russel Brand interview I've never felt such profound embarrassment for a Labour leader I was going to vote for, he had all the gravitas and authority of a slightly overconfident 18 year old student at a freshers ball.

speaking of negligent employers
By advising employers not to necessarily report Covid-19 cases and deaths, despite the legal requirement, the Government is turning a blind eye to the impact this virus is having on workers. https://t.co/we9Qi5kIuy— Andy McDonald MP (@AndyMcDonaldMP) September 14, 2020

I doubt it makes difference beyond SW1, but I imagine there will be a few Tory MPs made uncomfortable by sight of Ed M, a man whose credentials to be PM they derided, looking and sounding so much more capable in a serious brief than the incarnate shambles they chose as leader.— Rafael Behr (@rafaelbehr) September 14, 2020

Today’s labour market data (with data covering up to August) showed that the recovery in GDP this summer is not reflected in the jobs data. Headline unemployment rose sharply in July (up 0.6 ppts), and RTI employment continued to fall, while the recovery in vacancies has slowed.— Resolution Foundation (@resfoundation) September 15, 2020

Apologies for drunky incomprehensibility last night and apologies for not leaping to EMil's defence at 5 to 7 in the evening in the middle of a Wolves match in the pub.
Tbh I think the hated tankies of UK Pol have always been gently tolerant of Ed except when he's printing racist coffee mugs or advocating being a snitch

I hate "the economy" because it's just shorthand for the interests of the exploited class but on the other hand the economy's really fucked lads, there's gonna be unmanageable millions unemployed by next summer

I recall seeing ppl groaning at Mike Pence as president. Some people were like, if not Pence who?
I think the differences lie in Johnson actually having had covid. However a lot of the ppl making this speculation don't want to admit how bad things could get, that one trick -- Johnson's removal somehow -- could throw off the Tories from their plans for their precious liberal democracy.

i encourage each and every one of you to look at this organisation's website and tell me one actual deliverable plan they have to stop us all burning or boiling alive
also, if i was writing a satirical dystopian novel about how finance is actively enabling the strangling of the planet under the guise of woke capitalism i'd think calling a green finance organisation 'PANE' was a bit on-the-nose
