There is an issue here re the desire to categorize people into good and bad boxes. Something thats perhaps inevitable in some cases but not something to be aimed for

yeah, the people in here I'd consider "problematic" are for wildly different reasons and to different degrees. some are worth engaging with, others obviously not so much.

The Citations Needed on house flipping shows is good. I liked Rehab Addict for being a This Old House with less flannel, showing the work going into remodeling etc., but I had no idea there were so many flipping shows now.

i keep meaning to listen to that house flipping show episode. there's always one going on one of the gym TVs, which is also where i listen to all podcasts now, so that will be a nice background.

I've now heard the linked episode, was good. Agree the quoted movie has a weird use of "groceries" but I imagine it's perfectly cromulent somewhere. I really glaze over when he starts rambling about squibs and little movie things. But I don't bother with superhero or action movies nearly as much as he does. You have to admire his sacrifice.

in the context he was talking about?! i have never ever heard that and i am shocked it's a thing!!!

oh i never actually found where he said it, i was thinking this was some kind of "food shopping" vs "grocery shopping" thing

he's saying once you bring groceries into your home they are no longer groceries. they are food (or more specifically, they're bananas, peanut butter, beef, etc.) the line in the movie is something like, some people look in their fridge and see that it's empty, and proclaim, "we're out of groceries"

yeah, the only two strains of content I need from any of these ppl are the reading series and some of Matt's more cogent/reflective big-picture solo stuff. and as little amber as possible

and the occasional movie ep. I ended up watching and sort of loving Assassin 33 AD.
