I live in Boston but I grew up in Queens (Flushing) so my teams have always been orange and blue (Isles/Mets). My parents are out on the island now, thorough.

I've been on the Island since '01 and have been to lots of games at the Colosseum. During those years I always hated the Rangers but never the Islanders.

The Coliseum was definitely a cool place to see a game. I vivid recall the symphony of car horns doing the let’s go islanders chant in the parking lot during some early ‘90s games.

My former company had season tickets in the corner on the end the Islanders attacked twice and there was a famous crusty Islander fan nicknamed "goldilocks" who had season tickets just below. Every game he wore a gold foil wig and a Rangers jersey that he had embroidered "S-U-C-K-S" in the Rangers' font just below the franchise name.

depends, for me. if chicago wins it despite not actually deserving to be in the playoffs, that would be bad. however i can't see myself complaining about, for instance, tampa.

but to a certain extent i feel like it's a truer test than ever. never before have we had playoff teams this healthy. there's no 'we played like shit for four months but caught fire in march' momentum. neutral ice means the western teams aren't being screwed by all the extra travel. absolutely it's a weird situation, but a truly great team (unlike, say, the penguins or oilers) should be able to rise to the occasion.
