some ilxors and i ate at taco santana again yesterday. yummmm.

we thought smoke joint was terrible, but we ate there within a few months of opening, so i'll defer to more recent opinions. they were overwhelmed, that much was clear. in fort greene, i'm interested in trying no. 7. the chef is a really nice guy who was a few years behind me at school.

they have fancy hot dogs, i think? i remember laurel saying that she liked those quite a bit.

no. 7 is supposedly fantastic. a friend of mine has gotten friendly with the peeps over there -- i'm going on thurs.

just had an amazing plate of hacked pork, smoky greens and rice from SJ. well the rice was mine.

yay! i'm really looking forward to trying it.

I have to say Teresa's has the best blintzes I have ever had in my life, and that means something coming from an ashkenazi jew. I had one plum butter w/cheese and one shredded apple. Hot damn.

pinche is on my list. that reminds me - we had such good fish tacos at la superior in wmsburg the other week. they weren't baja style, but they were so tasty and very simple. just grilled fish with a pickled pepper relish. i think the latter ingredient is a secret weapon.

I've never been to Teresa's!

When I was in NYC recently, I ate in a restaurant that struck me as the fanciest place I'd ever eaten in. It was kinda weird. I didn't think the food was all that great, though.

It was called Josephina's.

Is there still a Teresa's on Tompkins Square? (and is that the same people?)

The fried catfish sandwich I had at the Smoke Joint was unremarkable, but the cole slaw, which I usually avoid, was very good.

i heard something about a hot dog with slaw on top. never thought to do this, but it seems like a great idea!

those tacos make me dream of the fish taco i had at a roadside stand in maui. if they are 1/2 as good i will be very excited!

g00blar - i think the teresa's are connected, or were, and the one on 1st ave closed a little while ago.

i ate at paul's today. the number of bad reviews of paul's on yelp really threw me. i love paul's. today i had the 2nd avenue burger, with cheese, ham, grilled tomato and grilled onions.
always get the "cajun" fries.

just the idea of cajun fries is too much for me to handle

it's nothing special. just like.. fries with spices on them. they're just better than the steak fries, which are kind of bland and mushy usually.

i had a burger at paul's once. it was nothing spectacular.

surm, i don't know about blackened but i do know a recipe for this great cream sauce with riesling and capers that will make you melt.

pinche's fish tacos are really good but the secret weapon is the carnitas!! so delicious, whatever the hell they braise the pork in is magical.

i wish time out's offices would move back to soho instead of the wasteland they currently occupy by the javitz center so i could eat delicious tacos on a more regular basis.

i have no lunch options. there is a caf in my building, but it is the size of my bedroom so not very many options. i will turn into a salad soon. maybe that is a good thing, though.
