They have been pretty empty for a while, but extra empty nowadays because of COVID stuff.

this is so heartening about her, yeah - Obama was a very good public speaker and marketing guy, she is a very good public speaker and extemporiser AND a very good digital communicator AND her politics are admirable as well

i think she makes republicans mad bc (1) they convinced themselves for decades that someone with her politics would never go anywhere and she's probably the best known member of congress outside pelosi, schumer, and mcconnell right? and (2) she's young and latina and theyre used to condescending to women like her but...she's smarter and savvier than they are, so when they trip over their dicks in their frustration, she can make a 1-minute internet video-ready speech like "look at how these guys keep tripping on their dicks" and the ownage just piles on.

she's never gonna make the red states blue state 04 speech, but for this political moment she really gets where politics is going (esp for the under 40 set) and is able to bridge the gap between sanders youths and neoliberal "lets have a woman commander in chief to show that we can do it (it=commit war crimes!!)" dems who see her as a boon to meritocrat underdogs. she should absolutely primary schumer in a few years (or threaten it and see if he retires on his own).

phony Nixon has a point. AOC's ability to strike quickly to the heart of the matter in a way that connects with her audience is amazing. it's a bad idea to let her outshine the top of the ticket, whose speeches will be full of stale bromides and irrelevant personal narrative to prove their 'authenticity'.
