love to hear that our elected officials are acting like high school sophomores

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Tuesday, 21 July 2020 16:20 (five years ago)

i admire her ability to turn around and just call it "rude", in the moment. i could never be a politician because if someone called me a fucking bitch i'd be tempted to call them a two-timin yoho who is about to fall down a set of stairs

The GOAT Harold Land (Karl Malone), Tuesday, 21 July 2020 16:24 (five years ago)

On February 26, 2020, Ted Yoho voted against making lynching a federal hate crime. He stated that he believed it was an “overreach of the federal government and tramples on states' rights to make their own legislation on the subject.”

mookieproof, Tuesday, 21 July 2020 16:25 (five years ago)

disgusting

The GOAT Harold Land (Karl Malone), Tuesday, 21 July 2020 16:26 (five years ago)

grace under pressure is an asset when you have scum for colleagues

brooklyn suicide cult (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 21 July 2020 16:29 (five years ago)

You should try it on here sometime.

pplains, Tuesday, 21 July 2020 21:01 (five years ago)

That makes us the scum, though ("though").

AxoLOLtl (Leee), Tuesday, 21 July 2020 21:10 (five years ago)

what?

Give me a Chad Smith-type feel (map), Tuesday, 21 July 2020 21:14 (five years ago)

just imagining the uproar if the roles reversed and AOC had used similar language toward Yoho. there would be immediate demands for her to publicly apologize and then they'd talk about it for the next month, with trump calling her filthy mouth "AOC" or whatever

The GOAT Harold Land (Karl Malone), Tuesday, 21 July 2020 23:38 (five years ago)

anyway, it's really cool that she can keep calm in that kind of situation. guess she recognizes a self-own when she sees one

The GOAT Harold Land (Karl Malone), Tuesday, 21 July 2020 23:39 (five years ago)

If there’s one thing you learn from being extremely online it’s how to give other people enough rope

all cats are beautiful (silby), Wednesday, 22 July 2020 00:02 (five years ago)

Give me a Chad Smith-type feel (map), Wednesday, 22 July 2020 00:04 (five years ago)

brooklyn suicide cult (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 22 July 2020 01:21 (five years ago)

pish, I've been waiting for 8 months of back-payments due to the corruption of our treasurer *glares at poster who is the treasurer*

Lady Antibody (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 22 July 2020 01:23 (five years ago)

the uproar if the roles reversed and AOC had used similar language toward Yoho.

You are forgetting that AOC is a woman of color and Yoho is a white man, so both of them were just playing by the long-established rules.

the unappreciated charisma of cows (Aimless), Wednesday, 22 July 2020 01:36 (five years ago)

I'll talk to Soros about that, sorry Morbz.

pplains, Wednesday, 22 July 2020 02:34 (five years ago)

Must add Ted Yoho to the "Pynchon names in Politics" list.

"...And the Gods Socially Distanced" (C. Grisso/McCain), Wednesday, 22 July 2020 02:55 (five years ago)

is "fucking bitch" going to be the new "nevertheless she persisted"? like, inscribed on t-shirts and stuff?

treeship., Wednesday, 22 July 2020 02:57 (five years ago)

anyway, this just makes yoho look bad. but what do you expect from republicans.

treeship., Wednesday, 22 July 2020 02:58 (five years ago)

halitosis and hate

Lady Antibody (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 22 July 2020 03:01 (five years ago)

she's tended bar; however unexpected, she can handle a yoho

mookieproof, Wednesday, 22 July 2020 03:14 (five years ago)

Yoho probably already sending out fundraising emails off this

Muswell Hillbilly Elegy (President Keyes), Wednesday, 22 July 2020 15:07 (five years ago)

i think most bartenders are superhuman too

Give me a Chad Smith-type feel (map), Wednesday, 22 July 2020 15:14 (five years ago)

She's scarily good at this and the haters are all dinosaurs and fossils.

God I love @AOC so much. She’s my age and she’s already such an inspiration! We can learn much from her ❤️ #Bossbitch pic.twitter.com/JL66iAM3R1

Muswell Hillbilly Elegy (President Keyes), Wednesday, 22 July 2020 20:14 (five years ago)

No mean feat. DaBaby (breastcrawl), Thursday, 23 July 2020 08:59 (five years ago)

Same here, but then I remembered, oh yeah, these people always hate more than once.

incredible

Rep. Ocasio-Cortez: "Mr. Yoho mentioned that he has a wife and two daughters. I am two years younger than Mr. Yoho's youngest daughter. I am someone's daughter, too. My father, thankfully, is not alive to see how Mr. Yoho treated his daughter." https://t.co/U2UIEaCljG pic.twitter.com/kk701q80zW

The GOAT Harold Land (Karl Malone), Thursday, 23 July 2020 15:34 (five years ago)

was yoho in the room?

mookieproof, Thursday, 23 July 2020 15:37 (five years ago)

AOC: "I am here because I have to show my parents that I am their daughter, and that they did not raise me to accept abuse from men.. What Mr Yoho did was give permission to other men, to do that, to his daughters."

singular wolf erotica producer (Hadrian VIII), Thursday, 23 July 2020 15:39 (five years ago)

doubt it. most congressional sessions take place in empty rooms

The GOAT Harold Land (Karl Malone), Thursday, 23 July 2020 15:40 (five years ago)

Fitting for a bunch of empty suits.

AxoLOLtl (Leee), Thursday, 23 July 2020 15:57 (five years ago)

flawless

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Thursday, 23 July 2020 16:57 (five years ago)

One of AOC's flaws is that she flat-out vaporizes fools when she should slit their throats and leave their gagging bodies behind as a warning to others who might be feeling themselves

shout-out to his family (DJP), Thursday, 23 July 2020 17:10 (five years ago)

They have been pretty empty for a while, but extra empty nowadays because of COVID stuff.

Video/audio is pumped into congressmembers' offices and they each have a light in their office that alerts them when they need to get to the chamber for something.

Bravo, AOC.

unashamed and trash (Unctious), Thursday, 23 July 2020 17:12 (five years ago)

the bravery and poise in that speech is truly breathtaking. I don’t understand how she even does that. I cried about 5 times watching that

k3vin k., Thursday, 23 July 2020 17:28 (five years ago)

It was pretty incredible. Did I detect her voice quivering a little?

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 23 July 2020 17:35 (five years ago)

saw more of the speech tonight, parts that I didn't see this afternoon, the whole thing was amazing

maybe being too obvi here since this thread title comes from the obama thread of the same structure, but her command of The Stage is p obamaish only she's, you know, better

mostly impressed that she didn't call him out in the congressional record as a bitch-ass motherfucker too pussy to say shit to her face

probably just as well i'm not in politics

mookieproof, Friday, 24 July 2020 03:06 (five years ago)

"let the minutes acknowledge the lady has referred to the gentleman as 'bitch ass motherfucker'"

let the minutes acknowledge the hyphen as well

mookieproof, Friday, 24 July 2020 03:33 (five years ago)

maybe being too obvi here since this thread title comes from the obama thread of the same structure, but her command of The Stage is p obamaish only she's, you know, better

this is so heartening about her, yeah - Obama was a very good public speaker and marketing guy, she is a very good public speaker and extemporiser AND a very good digital communicator AND her politics are admirable as well

Steppin' RZA (sic), Friday, 24 July 2020 03:47 (five years ago)

i think she makes republicans mad bc (1) they convinced themselves for decades that someone with her politics would never go anywhere and she's probably the best known member of congress outside pelosi, schumer, and mcconnell right? and (2) she's young and latina and theyre used to condescending to women like her but...she's smarter and savvier than they are, so when they trip over their dicks in their frustration, she can make a 1-minute internet video-ready speech like "look at how these guys keep tripping on their dicks" and the ownage just piles on.

she's never gonna make the red states blue state 04 speech, but for this political moment she really gets where politics is going (esp for the under 40 set) and is able to bridge the gap between sanders youths and neoliberal "lets have a woman commander in chief to show that we can do it (it=commit war crimes!!)" dems who see her as a boon to meritocrat underdogs. she should absolutely primary schumer in a few years (or threaten it and see if he retires on his own).
