Fucking HELL I'm rarely on Twitter and it's pointless enough not to really wind me up but this RS Archer Brexit shit is back once again - I thought he'd deleted his account - it's really pushing my buttons due to how utterly shit it is, not even good trolling, just fucking tedious and smug beyond belief with the O Gods and lol shoes agh I hate it

Classic. As is Bitcoin.

"heartbreaking" is trending on twitter; not for any one story but for like ten different stories.

just got this NYT alert:
"The twitter accounts of several prominent figures appears to have been hacked - including Joe Biden, Kanye West, Bill Gates and Elon Musk"
― The GOAT Harold Land (Karl Malone), Wednesday, 15 July 2020 21:47 (five years ago)
would this be a hack into twitter's database? how else would you get into so many different people's accounts?
― The GOAT Harold Land (Karl Malone), Wednesday, 15 July 2020 21:49 (five years ago)
Within hours of the tweets appearing, nearly 300 people had fallen for the scam, sending more than $100,000 to the wallet.
― scampos mentis (gyac), Wednesday, 15 July 2020 22:00 (five years ago)
Feel like this must be some exploit because all those people are going to have security on their accounts right? It’s not like lifting some pleb’s details off a database.
― scampos mentis (gyac), Wednesday, 15 July 2020 22:01 (five years ago)
Either way, it's kind of impressive tbh.
― pomenitul, Wednesday, 15 July 2020 22:03 (five years ago)
We are aware of a security incident impacting accounts on Twitter. We are investigating and taking steps to fix it. We will update everyone shortly.— Twitter Support (@TwitterSupport) July 15, 2020
― xyzzzz__, Wednesday, 15 July 2020 22:10 (five years ago)
They’re still getting away with it. Kim Kardashian hacked three minutes ago.
Strongly speculated that they’ve hacked a Twitter employee with access to whole account database.
― Scampo di tutti i Scampi (ShariVari), Wednesday, 15 July 2020 22:11 (five years ago)
Idk why they don’t just take the site down until they’ve fixed it.
― Scampo di tutti i Scampi (ShariVari), Wednesday, 15 July 2020 22:12 (five years ago)
The theory I saw that seemed plausible is someone hijacked a service authorized to tweet on behalf of users, eg people used a 3rd party app to schedule tweets, and that app got hacked.Twitter itself being compromised is less likely, but not out of the question.
― lukas, Wednesday, 15 July 2020 22:13 (five years ago)
Yeah as others have pointed out, this would be a good time to bring back the whale.
sending more than $100,000 to the wallet
Even if that sum has doubled by now, doesn't seem like it was worth it.
― pomenitul, Wednesday, 15 July 2020 22:15 (five years ago)
All verified accounts banned from posting.

FYI what they seem to have done is made their api reject posts to verified accounts as spam, they don’t actually have a “mute everyone” function

Someone I follow observed last night that he couldn't tweet this AP link:

Someone else surmised that Twitter may now be blocking strings of characters that resemble bitcoin wallet addresses.

Would have been easier and more profitable to short $TSLA and then get on Musk's account and power dive it into the ground.

― mookieproof, Thursday, 16 July 2020 20:51 (five years ago)
Par-lay, apparently. Kind of ironic seeing as the last thing these bigots want is a parley.

Not necessarily, people are shorting Tesla all day every day (and on balance losing shitloads of money on it), it wouldn't be easy to pick you out of the crowds when it started paying out.
― Andrew Farrell, Friday, 17 July 2020 17:00 (five years ago)
lagoon probably means on the hacking side. causing a widely held stock like TSLA to tank would expose you to a lot more legal problems than the Bitcoin scheme, even if they never matched you to the specific short position, which of course they would anyway
