Who is doing this? Recognizing the “variety of opinions,” most of which do not amount to “abolish police,” is useful a) in not being shithead white saviors and b) figuring out how to bring more people around to something resembling police abolition.

idk a lot of ppl do consider various “official” organs of the movement to be that, those demands seem pretty modest, I agree w the unspecified “some activists”

there are always tensions w any movement esp when elements want to work w media & state to translate things into legible terms for bargaining, which means reformism is often overrepresented. I don’t blame them for this mostly, I blame media people who are clearly drawn to particular positions due to their own class & racial interests, which in this case have been repeatedly demonstrated
